Big Truck Not everyone should be allowed to wield tools.

If anything comes in to my work with an Allison issue they say "send it to Allison". Allison then usually rapes the customer, fixes either nothing and kicks it back to us or... just replaces the transmission. In my experience 90% of Allison failures are fixable without removing any major...

    A/C problems

No sir you must be mistaken, I have replaced condensors, removed debris from condensors but have never relocated one. I usually make sure the liscense plate is not blocking the small opening under the condensor. I also usually recommend if you idle your truck alot to bump the idle up to 980...

    A/C problems

So..... it worked fine and was blowing cold one day, then started blowing cold the next? First thoughts fan belt shredded off, verify it is installed and tight. Loss of refigerant (leak in system) Possible fan clutch issue. Make sure the fan is not freewheeling when you spin it. Are you...

    08 ud w/j08 engine

If this was a Hino I could walk you through how to reset the codes and the DPR maint light in the dash. This is a UD you are referring to correct?

    08 ud w/j08 engine

What Im saying is, plan for some downtime and some "business expenses" if you dont have an issue going forward great, if you do at least you ate prepared. Hino recommends to lube both VNT rod ends at every PM. One on the turbo and one on the VNT. You can do this yourself and maybe get some life...

    08 ud w/j08 engine

P0045 is usually a turbo VNT controler issue, 90% of the time I see this code I end up replacing the complete turbo. P0093 Is high fuel pressure, the common rail pressure sensor had detected high rail pressure. I would replace the fuel filter, and inspect the wiring to the SCV, Remove the...

Will this truck make it to Tampa? You have dx2 software, you can monitor actual and desired fuel pressure. They should mirror eachother closley through all rpm ranges. I would look closely to see if actual and desired fuel pressure match. Warm up the truck(176 degrees). Set the dx2 to record...

    Mechanical 2016 Hino 268 P016F

Ive had multiple suction side fuel issues with that code. Inspect the tank, fuel lines and the frame mount fuel filter. Remove the filter and look in the fuel bowl for debris.remove the orange plastic flapper valve and look for debris lodged under it. I have seen multiple times body companys...

    Intermittent overheat only at Idle?

I have seen multiple fan clutch failures as of late. I replaced 3 on 1 truck and 2 on a handful of others. I would check the fan blades for any viscous fluid, also spin it by hand and be sure it has some resistance. Most of the fan clutch failures i see the fan will freehweel when spun, truck...

Monitor the injectors and look at the balance rates when the truck is up to operating temp (176 degrees or so) New injectors should be roughly +/- 3mm. If you see a number near 20 it could indicate a restriction in the rail on that cylinder. Numbers over 5 and thats usually when I start to...

Most common debris I find is when the spring comes apart in the pump, and lodges in the back of the flow damper. This basically starves one, or more cylinders of fuel. This is alot easier to find with deal software, but if your "cowboy" troubleshooting you may find an issue here.

There may be debris lodged in the common rail. I have seen multiple times, inj pumps come apart and lodge debris in the flow dampers. Removing and cleaning the rail could be done by an amature in under 2 hours. There are no parts involved just a little labor. Injectors however, are expensive...

Good deal or should I pass .?

That engine uses a HEUI system, basically it uses high engine oil pressure to fire the injectors. Your friend was right, change the oil every 5 k and save your self the cost of 6, injectors and a HEUI pump. I also despise C7 engines. I worked at a GMC / Isuzu dealer for many years. Nothing but...

2011 Hino 268, regen but no heat

I definetly could have not said it better. Nice reply Greasytshirt. The P2436 as stated, usually ends up getting an atomizer any time it comes into my stall. If the customer declines to replace it,it usually comes back within a week or so with the same fault. Bummer

2011 Hino 268, regen but no heat

Welcome, since your newto Hinos I posted PM Schedule. Like greasytshirt mentioned the Nozzle, ignitors, and flame temp sensor should be replace at 150k. Also unless someone has reset it, there will be an annoying green indicator that comes on your meter at 150k asking for you to peform the...

    2007 Daytime Running Lights

Very nice, I'm glad you were able to get it to work. I have never had a customer ask me to dis-able them, but now I at the very least say it can be done!

Allow me to introduce another great mechanic, Hino123.

This isn't the best place to get a reply, as it's in another post. Start a new post and I can give you a hand if you haven't figured it out already.
