OOIDA says owners should pay idling fines

It isn't merely a question of laws ..... with fuel prices going the way that they are, as Ark says ...... it's rapidly becoming a big economic issue for those in the big(ger) rigs that suck down a gallon or so per hour while idling. I was up in Romulus at Espar last week getting a 12v AC unit...

My Profit Is Down, So I Am Requesting That Carriers Supplement My Expenses

I know I'm kinda slow and all .... but can someone explain to me exactly how the above works .... ?

    Permits

You need to clear up the difference in the definition of "Commercial Vehicle" and "Commercial Motor Vehicle" - as Greg points out, just because you aren't considered a CMV by the Feds doesn't mean you get off scot free.

    Fuel Pump Handle Malfunction

I had a similar problem at the J in Des Moines ..... twice. First time it was bitter cold out and I had hopped back in the Sprinter for protection from the wind. The fuel filler neck is right next to the driver's side door, and after I had sat there for a couple of minutes all of a sudden I...

    Stolen ID?

I use a J Frequent Fueler card and a Mastercard but I do it a little different than the Rev - I swipe the credit card, then I swipe the Frequent Fueler card when the prompt appears to "Insert Loyalty Card". So far I haven't hit a transaction limit by doing so - if I'm low sometimes the fuel up...

    What happened to long runs?

The only thing on the list that I don't do is NYC - when I went thru orientation they asked us to write any areas that we wouldn't do - I just wrote "prefer NO NYC". In spite of that about a month ago they called me with a load going to Long Island which I ran. After I dropped I had another...

    What happened to long runs?

I was talking to a friend last Thursday or Friday who also drives a Sprinter for Bolt - he had just gotten dispatched on a run from Chicago to Torres, CA (sp ?) ...... south of LA - 2012 miles. So like Charles said, long runs are still out there.

    Sprinter

OVM, I was doing some further reading on this on a Sprinter forum and I found out something interesting - the passenger version of the Sprinter uses a two leaf spring pack on the rear suspension - rather than the heavier single spring that the cargo version does. From what I could tell the...

    Get Involved

Ahhh .... yeah .... Sorry Rat - I think you are engaging a philosophical argument of some sort - one that doesn't have anything to do with the real world. If they (carriers and brokers) are collecting a portion of the FSC and then they aren't allowed to do so anymore, and their revenues...

    Stop Smoking Now!!!

Yeah .... But ya gotta admit - it's pretty funny ..... someone going around spraying Glade to "freshen" the air .... needlessly releasing butane and propane ..... and Lord-knows-what-else into the air .... when all that is likely required in many instances to have a little fresh air would be to...

    Get Involved

Interesting .... Another aspect to it could potentially be this: if brokers and carriers are indeed reaping huge profits from FSC, do you think that they will willingly give up that revenue ? Could that loss of revenue cause a general increase in rates - in order to make up for the loss ...

    Stop Smoking Now!!!

freightchaser, Glad to hear that you are out and doing better - I hope things continue to go better for you. And I want to let you know that although I am smoker and am passionate about the rights end of things, I do know the potential consequences of my actions: About ten years ago my mother...

    Sprinter

Yup - I think that to a great degree that is just the nature of the Sprinter's stock suspension - mostly the spring selection. A suspension is generally composed of two parts - some sort of spring setup (leaf, coil, or torsion bar) which supports or holds the vehicle and payload up and provides...

Check 'em out on the web: Koni USA Couple of things: Adjustable Dampening. Rebuildable. Lifetime warranty. Approximately 2x the dampening over a stock shock, at the "soft" setting. And how exactly are you judging that - the fluid ain't dribbling out ? :D OEM shocks on most...
