    question

Vans under 10,001 pounds are not regulated by the federal government, so you don't need a CDL to operate one commercially; however, some carriers haul Hazmat on vans so under these circumstances you'll need a hazmat endorsement on a CDL. No Log Books unless carrying 1000 pound, of hazmat...

Top 17 Bumper Stickers You Would Like To See

My most recent favorite: I'd like to die in my sleep like my grandfather: not yelling and screaming like all the passengers in his car.

FedEx to raises 2005 rates 2.6%

Interesting! Let's hope Custom Critical follows suit and everyone else jumps on the same wagon. The industry sure needs a fiscal infusion. Since we get 58% of the customers tarrif, we'll also reap a proportionate share of any increase. I hope that fuel surcharge decrease is just a forecast...

    Starting out

Dave: You said you might be working for a Detroit area expedite carrier that "says" you'll be home every day. I'm suspicious and you should be also. Remember the USMC recruiter? Was he a bit careless with the truth as you experienced it? All reputable expedite carriers would have informed...

    HOT TOPIC... !!!

I certainly agree with Tom's concept and the value to all of us But... If it's implementation is going to have any chance of success, any ratings must be justified in order to have any value. Chetjester's T/A comments are a good example of a justified rating. His alumabunk comments, both the...

    Washing your Truck

Cargo vans need washing also. We've paid $12 more often than not, but have gone as high as $18. Red Baron and truck-o-mat when we can. The best washes ever have been at the independent across the street from the Albuquerque Flying J. Sure beats do-it-urself with a pocketful of quarters.

    Canada Truck Stops - Canada

My personal favorite is the Milton,ON Fifth wheel. Not because it's a great T/S but 'cause it's centrally located to most of our carrier's shippers. During the slow waits, there's plenty to do nearby. One of our favorite canadian restaurant chains is across the street.

    Autopage Beepers

Former Roberts Express folks surely remember how useful the Autopage pager connected to the QualComm was to their mobility away from the truck. For those of y'all that still have the equipment or have access to it, we have good news. These old pagers can be repaired by the Autopage company for...

    cargo vans

If you mean $1200 gross to the truck, you should have no problem if you're with the right carrier. If you mean $1200 net, after ALL expenses, It ain't gonna happen to a solo driver, except to a very few. Diesel or gas, the price has risen proportionetly for all of us. Gasoline prices for an...

    Getting a Clue

As a 15+ year van vet, I too echo the comments of all those above. You are probably looking closer at next weeks big check than next months bigger credit statements. You are learning how to make a small fortune in expediting...start with a large fortune and deadhead yourself into poverty. I...

    Thank You!!!!!!!!!!

I join Glen in saying thanx for the thanx. We often get more out of this than many of the contributors with questions 'cause expediting, and trucking of other sorts, is not just a job, it's a lifestyle that many of us enjoy sharing with others. BTW, for anyone who received a helping hand from...
