HOT TOPIC... !!!

Earlier tonight I posted an idea on "truck talk"
the idea is that "WE" the owners and drivers could advise one another about the quality of service received on repair work on our vehicles. I am posting this notice because I know many more people frequent this forun than any other.
So do me a favor... let E/O hear your opinions...
Lets flex a little muscle and make one another aware of the shops who tie up our trucks for days for a one hour repair. Lets also make each other aware of shops than are honest and give the kind of service that makes us return to them.
Good service shops will be rewarded with more of our business and shops that treat us badly will feel the wrath of our lack of business.
Read the entire thread and post your opinion.

Specail thanks to Tennesseeahawk for his post on Freightliner rip off... which gave me this idea.

I can give some opinions.

The J Care Center at the Flying J in Lake Station, IN. Great group. Very helpful. I'd let them do anything there.

TA in Monroe, MI. Drained my oil, then told me they didn't have the filter for my old FL70. I didn't know the oil was gone. At my next fueling, when I checked the oil, it was at the bottom of the dipstick. I'm lucky I didn't lose the engine. Idiots. I would prefer they never work on my truck.

Alumi-Bunk, Dundalk, Ontario. Idiots.

Alumi-Bunk, Woodhaven, MI. Awesome.

Just my opinion.

I certainly agree with Tom's concept and the value to all of us But... If it's implementation is going to have any chance of success, any ratings must be justified in order to have any value. Chetjester's T/A comments are a good example of a justified rating. His alumabunk comments, both the idiot and the awesome, do not provide any justification for the rest of the EO audience to make an informed decision on those vendors.

Sorry about that. Let me try again.

AlumiBunk, Dundalk. They had to remove my cab and sleeper to repair a broken frame. When they put it back together, they didn't reconnect the plumbing for the toilet and shower. If I hadn't seen the broken hoses, I would have been leaving "refuse" in the parking lot. They didn't reconnect the battery isolater switch which caused me to be unable to start my truck several days later. They didn't repair the roof vent on the sleeper as requested and it blew off as I was drving down the road. Generally, they had a "too much trouble" attitude.

AlumiBunk, Woodhaven. I've taken two different trucks into there. With the first one, they gave me good advice and did a few minor repairs along with mounting my tv for a very fair price. My second truck went in there because I thought I had a wiring problem. They took the time to explain how the various switches on this new truck works and helped me mount a bracket to put my XM magnet antenna on.

You are right that nasty comments accomplish nothing. I'll try to elaborate better in the future.

I would like to reply to the Alumi-bunk Woodhaven comment. If you got a fair price there, you must either go there alot, or know someone. I say because, they wanted to charge me nearly $800 to install 2 12' sections of e-track in my sprinter. I nearly choked. I was told it took 8 man hours @ $70 dollars an hour. Plus the price of the e-track.
I am not sure if this is a normal rate, but I went to the place tri-state recommended. I can't remember the name, but I believe it is Utility Truck and Trailer. It is located at the rte 795 exit off I-280. They only charged me $350. I think they did a fine job, and it took them 3 hours.
I guess alumi-bunk was charging me man hours for the time it was sitting in the lot waiting to be worked on.

This is the kind of information we are trying to organize. If you haven't yet gone to the thread on "Truck Talk" please go there and post your opinion. We are trying to get E/O to start a new site which will give us the power to reward the companys doing services at fair and reasonable costs.

thanks

Tom, This would not only reward places that do good work at an honest price, this will help all of us when on the road in need of repair. I see this as a benefit to us in times of need. Be sure folks know that. In the long run it may reward honest and good shops but it will help all of us in the very short term. It will help all of us the next time we need help and repair.raceman

maybe we could have a rating system like aaa does and reward places
with a eo 5 star award, and driver would have to recommend them
for it and than give them a sticker to post on door or sign
like aaa does and as we go down the road we would know that was
a good place to go to and add other thing's like showers, at truckstops, place's to stop and eat etc, and shop to you drop to
call it eo's travel club of good value award

I agree with Geo. This is just the sort of thing both newbies to expediting and folks in unfamiliar territory can use. Bravo on a good idea!
