    Just for Chucks and Giggles!

When I had my permit, hubby thought he was cute by telling me that the only thing a driver can do when your brakes give out is to jump out. I knew he was bustin' on me so I waited for the perfect opportunity to teach him a lesson. One night, he jumped in the sleeper to take a mini cat nap...

OLD Ways are a thing of the Past

Some of the ones who will go belly-up will be because they jumped into expedite with both feet; buying the biggest, the best, and one of the most expensive trucks they could with everything under the sun on it WITHOUT planning ahead or doing their homework first. Some will go belly-up...

    TriState & Caterpillar

ROADPIG: I have trucks on with both tri-state and fed ex. Both companies are the same....no crystal ball to help us out with getting freight. :)

    TriState & Caterpillar

My trucks have had loads like that fairly often. The shipper has freight going to 2 or more drops and are willing to put those loads onto 1 truck. I don't know if all expedite companies do that, but I do know that FECC and TS do. The driver gets paid for all the loaded miles plus an extra for...

    TriState & Caterpillar

Most customers who ship their freight expedite do NOT want someone else's freight on your trucks. That's one of the customer's 'perks' for shipping expedite.

    TriState & Caterpillar

As for ANY dispatcher at ANY expedite company to know ahead of time when & where the loads will come in...they would need a crystal ball. Sure, ALL expedite companies have some pre-booked loads, but they, like alot of freight, is getting to be a thing of the past. Expedite is a gamble.....it...

That's happened to us before. We discovered that one of the wires inside was about broken in half. Got the wires fixed and haven't had a problem since.

    Killer Truck Drivers

Isn't it kind of funny..in a weird sort of way...how people tend to "picture" the following: truck drivers, preachers, teachers, nurses...to name a few. When I asked some random people how do they 'picture' these people, here's some of the answers I got: TRUCK DRIVER: an over weight man...

Uh whitewolf, whoever told you that cat was no longer using expedite for freight was wrong. I have a team hauling a CAT load right now. CAT has cut back on their expedited freight, just like many companies have in order to survive...but CAT has not totally done away with sending freight expedite.

    911

I have occassionally called 911 to report a wayward driver. The most recent went like this: I was following a car who was weaving all over the place. About ran cars off the rd coming in the opposite direction and about went off the rd several times. He was an accident waiting to happen. Called...

    Is freight on an increase???

Last week, 90% of my trucks were under a load every day. This week, it's about 50% so far. Typical expedite!!

Why would an owner charge a driver for tolls?

AILERON: the alternative would be to find a different owner IF you don't like the terms in the contract. Drivers who sign a contract with an owner then go around complaining about it always cracks me up. If you didn't like some of the terms or felt that the terms were unfair, then you...

Why would an owner charge a driver for tolls?

My contract states that the drivers pay for all fuel and tolls. It also states that the drivers get 100% of the fuel surchg, dh, and any toll $$ that the company gives. One of the companies that my trucks are on with pays a % of tolls, which my drivers get 100% of. The other company that my...

To Those of You Still Standing

I have had to change some things in order to keep my company afloat. I cut back on how often the trucks get washed. I shop around more and play the 'let's make a deal game' when it comes to buying tires. I also try to have hubby do the oil changes, lubes, and other maintenace on the trucks as...

    what is bull crap

Not all drivers that post negative stuff about their owner was actually burned by the owner. Quite often it is the driver who wronged the owner & tries to cover his tracks by slamming the owner. Had a driver do that to me not too long ago. He wronged me, NOT the other way around. Funny thing...

    what is bull crap

I am one of those owners who make sure the drivers get a copy of my contract long BEFORE they go to orientation or quit their current job. I tell them all to read it carefully, feel free to call & talk to me about anything in the contract before they sign it, and feel free to take it to a...

    New York ideas please.

About 4-5 miles down the road by the petro in Bordentown is a HUGE flea market that's open year round. It's not trashy....people sell only new items...and it's alot of fun PLUS helps to kill time. As for the walmarts in the city, keep your doors & box locked. They're not in the 'nicest'...
