    Oh, no, not again...

You have the option to NOT eat at the buffet and just order off the menu. Then, you will only need worry about those filthy people in the kitchen who just flushed and walked out. Yes, this happens a lot. If you had approached him nicely, he might've even apologized and washed up. Who knows...

    Independent contractor no more?

Well, when you have contractors making demands that they deserve employee style benefits (while still retaining control over hring drivers, and buying/selling routes), you're bound to have this kind of backlash. The answer is: Only do business corp to corp. Some contractors just need a...

Question on insurance and spread sheet

If you're still filing to be a intersate carrier from Florida, expect to pay 7-8 grand a year for a package with 1 mil liability, 100k cargo. Yeah, I know. Thank you Charlie Crist, for bringing back "no fault."

    ?'s reguarding Occupational insurance/own authority

The FMCSA requires no such thing. Some contracts might, but normally not, unless you have employees.

LayoutShooter is a Chicken when it comes to Debate

Actually, I think this thread has indeed served a wonderful purpose. Quite humorous actually. Rhodes made an accusation against Layout. Layout gave him a good natured opportunity to fulfill the bet. Rhodes declined, and offered no alternative venue. Game over! Well played, Layoutshooter.

    Those radical NY greenies

AZ isn't that dumb. Obviously CA and NY are. They use these "Greenhouse" laws for income, and yet CA is STILL bankrupt.

what is the word on loads for cargo vans?

Yeah, no ones likes the rate cuts. As the owner of a carrier, I don't like them either. We never really cut our own rates to our customers, but because there may be more carriers needing a load in an area than carriers that have a load that needs to be covered, the competition to cover that...

    Carrier Awards/Rewards

Hey OVM. Don't you know that companies always give awards and titles in place of real rewards.....like "cashola"? Besides, you keep bashing plaques and awards and you'll likely upset MarvinK, the best driver at FECC. :D

    Carrier Awards/Rewards

Now now, John. Aren't you just supposed to have a really large reserve, so the unnamed carrier can take advantage of your generosity? Oh wait. That's entirely irrelevant.

GM, brokered freight and a lawsuit

They do have a usdot number as well. Not sure if that is standard for a freight forwarder, but would be the minimum if they did run trucks in-state.

GM, brokered freight and a lawsuit

CHAT of Michigan has no control over what Landstar does once the load is booked. CHAT has freight forwarding authority and NO interstate motor carrier authority, meaning they run no trucks across state lines. For Landstar to broker it then is not "double brokering." Here are part of the Terms...

What's the worst thing about layovers?

For me, the worst thing about a layover is not the not making money part. It's actually the sitting-but-not-sitting-at-home part.

    All state express

I mean no ill will towards ASE. If they can get their stuff straight, then I'm real happy for them. I doubt it's been a perfect year for anyone. But when you come on blowin' a bunch of smoke on your 4th post ever, don't you think someone might challenge the mis-information? BTW Spencer...

    10 miles, $140

$400 for 33 miles a few weeks back. Had 3 DH miles to pu. $300 for 14 loaded miles in the past. $340 for 20 miles. Straight truck.

    All state express

Ya know Guido, that is certainly not MY problem. If they want to extend credit to non and sloooooow payers, then that's THEIR business. But the contract states 30 days. That is certainly true for us, and that is where we stand. Sustainability is not the issue here. We can handle the delay...

    All state express

Oh yeah it has. We're not the only ones to add them to a "do not haul" list. There are a few others (even on this forum) who are dealing with the same issues. But no one need believe me. A bit of digging and they can find out for themselves.
