    fun back in working

Tri-State have been nice folks for us to work with, even on the brokerage side of things.

Getting your own authority for sprinter

Right Now: I still drive, book, dispatch, manage, and invoice at this stage of the game. (Wife is beginning to relieve me of some of the accounting and data entry duties.) It might take away from some socializing with others at the truck stop though. If you let the technology be your friend...

Getting your own authority for sprinter

Contract? You may get a contract to sign from a brokerage in order to haul their freight. If you're looking for a contract that will guarantee you someone's freight, that's probably NOT going to happen. A reefer sprinter in Tampa? Good luck! You would basically need to run reefer freight...

    All state express

Sure is. It's about getting the whole story, when you're an owner operator and looking for a financially sound company to deal with. Some companies look all fine and dandy, with the largest booths and displays at the Expo. Then you find out that there's more than meets the eye.

    All state express

Good point. While you are out shaking hands and kissing babies on here, you might check into addressing your brokerage's practices of taking care of your vendors (Alliance carrier partners)in a timely manner. 120 days to pay is completely unacceptable. The lack of returned email and phone...

    Pilot and showers

Here is another option all of us might want to think about. I am certain that EVERYONE is concerned about the rising cost of fuel once again. Sometimes I am in need of fuel, even when I don't need another shower. I am finding larger chasms between the major name truck stops and "mom & pops"...

    BlockBuster Express...

Yeah, I've seen quite a few at grocery stores. The only drawback with those is they are NOT open 24/7, making it difficult to return at certain locations and times.

    Places you won't wait

Bemidji, MN. Yeah, I won't stick around there. Move down to the Twins. Tampa or Miami, I won't really wait long. Oh wait, maybe that's cuz I live in Orlando.

    Is it just Panther ?

Either they were all sitting at home, or everyone is afraid to take a load outside of "expediter land."

    Is it just Panther ?

Yep. Just because it's slow with one name on the truck doesn't mean the whole business tanks in January. Glad you are now able to find out how the "other half" lives. :D

    What they sell at MATS???

One quick nondescript method is to Google "trailer repair" in your closest town. They should sell it. They may even install it for you. You CAN get it at Northern Tool and Harbor Freight, but it's much more expensive and only in like 4-5 foot pieces. By the way, I've had a great experience...
