Three Snap Polls: By 23% Margin, People Say Trump Lost the Debate

"Despite Trump’s denials, three major snap polls of viewers conducted in the aftermath of the contest suggest Harris came out comfortably on top by a combined margin of 23 percentage points.

"Surveys for CNN, YouGov and SoCal Strategies found the Vice President won by an average of 57 per cent to Trump’s 34 per cent.

"Even prominent Republicans have admitted the GOP candidate lost, with veteran strategist Karl Rove writing in The Wall Street Journal that Trump had been 'crushed by a woman he called dumb as a rock'"

Nearly 60 Million Watched the Trump/Harris Debate

"Almost 60 million people watched Tuesday night’s debate between Vice President Harris and former President Trump, according to initial Nielsen research.

"That total audience figure is 10 million more than watched this cycle’s first presidential debate between Trump and President Biden in May, but well short of the record 84 million that watched a 2016 clash between Trump and then-Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton." (Source)

These 60 million people presumably include a few million or more undecided voters. Just because someone tells a focus group or pollster Trump lost the debate, it does not follow that they will vote for Harris. But, as a practical matter, it's reasonable to assume most who say Harris won the debate will vote for her.

Based on Trump's terrible debate performance (worse than Biden, some say ... people eating cats? really?), it's safe to assume Trump gained few if any new voters last night.

We'll know soon enough. Election Day is close.
Subsequent Report: 67 Million Watched the Debate

"An estimated 67.1 million people watched the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, a 31% increase from the June debate between Trump and President Joe Biden that eventually led to the president dropping out of the 2024 race.

"The debate was run by ABC News but shown on 17 different networks, the Nielsen company said. The Trump-Biden debate in June was seen by 51.3 million people.

"Tuesday’s count was short of the record viewership for a presidential debate, when 84 million people saw Trump’s and Hillary Clinton’s first face-off in 2016. The first debate between Biden and Trump in 2020 reached 73.1 million people." (Source)

GOP Strategist Carl Rove Says ...

Karl Rove wrote this in the Wall Street Journal, “There’s no putting lipstick on this pig. Mr. Trump was crushed by a woman he previously dismissed as ‘dumb as a rock.’ Which raises the question: What does that make him?”

And what does that make those that have anointed him as the 2nd comming.

This what I’m seeing in Michigan. Trump signs continuing to sprout up in Dem leaning suburban area. Rurals, not a Harris sign in sight. The election will be close here, but they are solid for Trump.
This poll is great for Trump:

He is desperate, at this point he is going to say anything to win voters. If anything this is right out of the liberal playbook, the only difference is that if elected a liberal would try to make this happen, in Trumps case, once he has the votes, he has no need to actually follow through with this proposal and the no tax on tips plan.

The following is a great take on how last night's debate will be remembered a week or two from now. BTW, the pundits also said Trump lost the first debate with Hillary in 2016.
Just as the assassination attempt has faded from the public mind, so will the debate. Different than Hillary or Trump, Harris raised $47 million in the 24 hours following the debate. The debate may be forgotten, but Harris gained cash in hand.

Also, Trump's utter collapse in the debate was one for the ages. It will be remembered for a long time as one of the most significant episodes ever in the history of US presidential debates. It will make the highlight reels for years and years. The story won't be about Harris's debate victory. It will be about Trump's meltdown.

Allowing hard working people to keep more of their earned money. Yeah that’s desperate.

Harris Schools Trump. Trump Cowers.

Harris had her chance to show up for the FoxNews debate. Instead she ducked it. That ship has passed. Now they’re scrambling because they see the polls. No good reason to have another debate at this point. The “News” moderators showed their corrupt arses. What’s the point for Trump to be involved with such a corrupt process.BTW, if Trump “lost” the debate, why has his poll numbers gone up? Seems counterintuitive to lose a debate yet he went up in the polls.

But some say he lost the debate. Yeah, right:

I guess im not the only one who believes Trump is being used by people who are even worse than he is. And I stand by my previous statement that if he is elected this year, the ones who are using him will eliminate him so that he is no longer in their way to implement their plans.

There are several good reasons to have another debate.
  • It gives Harris the opportunity to mop the floor with Trump a second time.
  • It gives Harris the opportunity to raise tens of millions of dollars a second time.
  • It gives Harris the opportunity to increase her name recognition among voters who have yet to learn more about her.
  • It will further energize her already energized base as the Election Day clock ticks down.
