The Trump Card...

If you are looking for cult-like behavior, you need only view a Trump rally to answer your question. Far fewer Biden supporters dress like that and follow the man's every word and move. Those rally fanatics are deep into it. Not all Trump supporters carry on so.

Similar behavior can be found at any NFL team tailgate party. NFL teams have cult-like fans too.

There is a difference between cult-like and cult member. You mentioned cult-like so I'll not go into the other.
Democrats backed Biden and blm and antifa thugs.....and we watched 2020 burn.

Trump lawyer charged with conspiracy in 2020 big lie
Got to love it!

Woah!!!

He's complaining the State AG is "weaponizing" her office. I'll keep that in mind. If I get pulled over for speeding, I'll complain to the judge that the officer weaponized the speed limit against me. The problem is not my improper driving. I've done nothing wrong. My driving is perfect. The problem is the officer's weaponizing the speed limit. That officer is corrupt. The officer is mentally deranged. The officer is disgusting. The officer is writing tickets that are politically motivated. If I was not as successful as I was, no officers would ever write me a ticket. They're coming after me, not because I drove faster than the speed limit, but because they don't want me to win. I've done nothing wrong. My behavior is perfect!

Dems criminalizing challenging an election. The Left showing who they are, which is pathetic.
I sense another bump in the polls for Trump.

Smith Goal: Complete Trial Before Election

Trump and six other co-conspirators are mentioned in the indictment, but only Trump is identified by name and actually charged. Commentators suggest this means Smith is keeping it simple to move it quickly through court. It seems Smith is determined to complete this trial before the election. He'll likely charge unnamed co-conspirators later in separate indictments.

This renders moot the question about the documents trial in Judge Cannon's court being delayed until after election day. In fact, today's indictment may push the documents trial further back because DOJ wants Trump to face the 2020 election interference charges first. in Today's indictment:
  • There are no co-defendants to be flipped or otherwise involved in the trial.
  • There are no classified documents to sort through or otherwise deal with.
  • There are not dozens of counts, only four.
  • No claims of partisan bias will stick. Every witness that will be called to testify against Trump will be a Republican.
  • There will be no questions of attorney-client or executive privilege that cannot be quickly resolved. Those have already been resolved by courts at all levels.
  • The venue is unquestionably appropriate since the crimes charged were committed by Trump in Washington.
  • There will be no motion to move the trial to federal court. It already is in federal court.
  • A motion for the judge to recuse will be quickly denied and that will be quickly upheld. There is no basis justify recusal. The judge's previous Jan 6 rulings have all stood.
  • Motions made with the intention to delay the trial will not be tolerated by this court or the DC Court of Appeals. They have been subjected many times before to this Trump tactic and they are on to his game.
  • Judge Cannon's court already decided to schedule a trial before the election. She rejected Trump's argument that he could not get a fair trial while he was running for president.
While Trump will likely do everything he can to delay this trial, he has few cards to play. I believe we will see Trump on trial in court before the election.

Trump's "Advice of Counsel" Defense

Trump himself has voiced words to this effect and various commentators are suggesting "advice of counsel" will be the theme of Trump's defense when he goes to court in the 2020 election interference case. Since the evidence is very strong and Trump does not have much of a defense, the likelihood is high he will use this strategy in court. But there is a fundamental flaw in that, explained by this writer.

"An advice of counsel defense is one in which a defendant tries to claim they did not act with criminal intent but were simply following the advice from their lawyers. But the fact that Trump’s co-conspirators were his lawyers tends to undermine such a defense because it makes the point that Trump was not receiving advice from his lawyers but rather plotting with them." (Source)

The advice of counsel defense is Trump throwing his attorneys under the bus. While this may seem like an effective tactic in the short term, I know of no better way to prompt your attorneys to turn on you than to throw them under the bus.
