Ice Road truckers - behind the scenes

All the reality shows are just like wrestling. Why does anybody watch these crazy things. So put on, but "WE" do.

    Roadside DOT Inspection Poll

We all talk about it. Whether it is a roadside or at a weigh station. Let's see just how many times a year each one of us really got inspected by DOT while traveling around doing our job in 2011. So take the poll if you remember the times last year (2011) you were inspected. If you have multiple...

    Straight truck to tractor trailer

I agree with pallud. If he can get insurance, experience won't matter that much to a carrier. Ability to get insurance will be the determining factor in this situation.

    Stuck

Just know that you are now aquiring "your experience". Learn from it. We all had to do same thing. Sometimes you feel as though nobody cares. Realistically, sitting is what we all do from time to time. Plenty of time to think!

    You have been heard

What's the ole saying??? When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have them??? Now it is ..when cell phones are policed, only police will use them. They haven't slowed down on their use at all. I saw a local cop on phone at red light other day, and car made illegal turn in front of him and he...

Sterling SportChassis Or Peterbilt 330 crew cab Fuel Mileage??

I understand and have read many times before of how they treated you. But it is very unlikely that the poster will be buying a truck with a Cat product that has a warranty.

    new to expediter

Well, I have never driven a T/T over the road so I can't say about them. Your statement was just extreme referring to a straight truck with an off balance load being like an ant pulling an elephant. True, it may affect tire wear, but I refuse to believe it would affect your pulling power that...

    Did anyone else get this?

Yes, I got it and it is legit. I drive a straight truck and I am not complaining about the program. Anything they want to give me for spending my money there is a plus in my opinion. I have to have showers and I have to have coffee, so where is the problem? You CV'ers can fuel just about...

    FedEx ground to FedEx cc???

And that blood may clot when you finally do get out here. Best advice given daily is try driving for an owner before you purchase your own truck. Trucks aren't easily sold if not happy doing this. Be smart and see if it is for you first. Then use the experience to help you decide just what kind...

    Bridge closure in Louisville,KY

I had an occasion to over hear an engineer for a steel company in Dover, Ohio, talking about this very bridge. His story was that yes, there are beams with cracks in them. But, what actually closed the bridge is that there is one beam completely cracked into. He seemed to think they will be able...

APU with all the bells, or roof air with portable genset?

I am on my 3rd China generator. Well, at least my third engine. First generator...after so many hours, the bolts came loose in air filter cover and sucked one down the intake. Believe it or not, they replaced the engine. Course, I had to pay shipping and do labor. That engine went 400+ hours and...

    canadian trip

the border crossing was the big difference for me. My fellow country men made me feel like a second rate citizen when I wanted to come back across to U.S. I am glad to never go there again. Then there is the check point north of Laredo that sorta makes you ill also.
