    Newbie from Nashville, TN

This statement leads me to believe that expediting won't be for you. A local gig is not true expediting and unless you know of one from the get go, it may be hard to find one that will suit you. You could find jobs driving delivery trucks, but what will that pay? Probably no where near a grand a...

CAT 3126 rough idles then dies

Hey jcross, don't go away without telling us what your problem was. That's like telling a joke up to the punch line, then walking off. We're a curious bunch. We have to know!

Help with finding the wight truck

All of these comments are mostly the opinion of the poster. "Crappy class 7's"???? Sure there are some crappy one's, but I would venture to say that the majority of expediting trucks out there right now, are class 7. I will say that I am beginning to see more class 8's, but the 7's have hauled...

What a great idea! Maybe shaw1996 could get a job driving the mail truck!!! Seriously shaw, don't let anyone keep you from getting what you have paid for and doing what it is you have trained to do. There has to be someway to work around this I know, but, it is you who has to figure out how...

    cant find horn

Tehehehe! Funny you all are. Maybe you can't see with your ears, but I can. Ha! Now, one of you Sprinter owners (drivers) tell the person where the horn is located on his van.

    cant find horn

All of you missed what he originally asked. He is "looking for the horn" on his Sprinter. I guess it is not loud enough to even find it.

Hi there! This my 1st post here!

"A few?".... Like two?.... Or how many? I see more straight trucks with one driver than I do with teams. Not cause other driver is in sleeper. I am talking at truck stops and so on. While I am sure teams out number solo right now, it is only a guess on my part.

    Air Conditioner question

I too have heard the portable roll around type work well. I know of one who modified the window vent adaptor and uses it in the passinger side window, which eliminates cutting holes in truck anywhere. Of course, he has to set it up everytime he uses it, but is really not that much trouble.

own authority straight truck pay when dealing with agents

This is probably true. They offer him loads cheap to see if he will do them.

Waiting for that first load (ever)

You can always go out the back way and avoid the trains or any other conjestion.

    About the pre trip test.

That's what I was thinking! Tennessee will let you use a cheat sheet out of the manual to help you on your pre-trip test. Optional of course, but the officer who gave me my test reminded me to use it if I thought it would help.

Solo's...how many miles do YOU get a week??

I am not doing to good lately. Seems it has slowed and even stopped at times. But I just keep thinking it will return and I will roll again. It si times like this that you have to call on your nestegg to survive. And thank goodness that I do plan for slow times. I can survive a slow period, but...

Real Expediters Do NOT Use GPS...

While a GPS will do silly stuff everyonce in awhile, I rely on mine solely. I do have an atlas, but don't remember the last time I used it. I hear drivers on CB all the time condeming GPS, but I see most of them have one on their dash. I have quit worrying whether I am a "real trucker" in...

    Osama Bin Laden is DEAD!

Have to give Obama credit when it goes right, just as you would have given 'em hell if it didn't. Remember poor ole Carter's demise back in the 70's. He tried and failed and cost him an election. What am I doing? I don't comment on political things.
