    DOT Question / Problem

Sure can. My company has challenged several violations and had them dismissed. They were grey area violations .

What does your screen name mean?

My name was a suggestion from Ebay when the names I wanted where already in use. My first initials are J B and I love the water. Ebay came up with bluejaybee and I accepted it. And if you are really interested, here is an old thread from several years back on this same subject...

Getting in to expediting. Please help with truck info.

They may call a DT530 a class 8 engine and they may put them in their class 8 trucks. My opinion is that they will not go the distance that any other brand of engine will. They are good for day cabs and local use, but I wouldn't want to OTR with one. Having an International is alright, but an...

Getting in to expediting. Please help with truck info.

I still say that class 7's are hauling the majority of the loads today. While I do see more and more class 8's coming down the road, 7's are still pulling their weight. My suggestion is buy a decent 7 for a reasonable price and try expediting for a year. If you like it, then you should know what...

    nasty filthiness

And I bet it wouldn't. We all like to critize T/S's for nasty this and not big enough that's. They were all new at one time and drivers have filthed them up. I'm convinced that alot of drivers think T/S"s owe them something. Maybe they do, but it is up to all of us to help them. They have to...

    the straight truck club

Count me in. Solo in a straight for over 7 years. If you got a parking spot at the Pilot in Columbus, you better not pull out of it unless you are heading to another one. I usually have to circle several times and sometimes hide and wait for a spot there.

longevity of class 6 or class 7 medium duty trucks

I've always thought of life of engine in these trucks. Like, class 8 should be good for a million on average and class 7 I think most consider 700,000 miles to be about it. My class 7 has 600,000 and still going strong. But there is the rest of the truck to consider also. It is the engine that...

    I don't even know what I don't know but I know this...

Wow! Described exactly how "it is" sitting in a T/S lot. I had to look to see if this was one of my posts. Throw in the smell of urine and it covers the scenario pretty much as it is.

    I don't even know what I don't know but I know this...

Good post sluggo! I think of all the things I could be doing if I were at home. But after 7 years of this, I have learned to deal with it. 3 Days of sitting in this truck while waiting for a load and I am a basket case. And broke.

    Solar Flares and GPS/Computers/Qualcomm

I doubt I will worry about it. I am an American and can count on my goverment to protect me. There are programs already in force to give me a "free cell phone" should I not be able to afford one. So with that in mind, I am crawling in my bunk and going to sleep.

Marathon, Exit 2, I-65 Kentucky ... just fyi

Yep. The ole Keystop. Completely redone and very nice. And if you can really go back, there used to be a motel associated with it along time ago (1970's). Motel is long since been torn down. Sorta a rat hole even it it's day. A good place to take a date when you were in high school, if you know...

Ready to Roll,,,,Just need a truck.

As long as you have some kind of plan. You are doing right and it appears you do know something about the everyday costs of being out here. I hope nothing but the best for you. The fuel card thing is an important feature of some carriers. I have said it before and I say again, there is so many...

Ready to Roll,,,,Just need a truck.

If money for a truck is not available and an owner does happen to work with you, then what are you going to do if said truck breaks down on the road? Just food for thought. And right now, my fuel costs can run around $1600 a week and if it is 2 weeks or more before you get a check, can you...
