Just wanted to drop a line and say hello. Hopefully I will meet some of you at a truck stop or loading dock face to face soon. I've been lurking around here for about a year now and feel like I know some of you already. Thanks for all the informative posting. It has helped me make the decision to get into expediting.
I'm based out of Nashville and have been in the music business for 27 years and decided it's time for a change. I feel I've done my due diligence and learned as much as I can, a lot from reading your posts opening up situations I might not have thought of otherwise. I considered going the E rig route and many have asked why I don't consider driving a tour bus with the contacts I have and my my most simple reply is, in a tour bus your freight talks back to you.
I've decided to go the O/O route. All I need is a truck now, huh. I'm all set to go and approved by a carrier. Some good ole boys outside of Music City that I researched and feel I can trust. I've talked to drivers and O/O's and they have all verified what I was told by the carrier. My problem now is financing. I had a reasonably priced D unit picked out somebody ready to take a chance on me then all of a sudden that person just flaked out. Looking for other options now and hopefully soon something will pop. Although, I did find another truck with the owner willing to do an owner finance that seems like it will work. It's just more truck than I feel I will need. It's set up as a 52k gvw and of coarse comes with the added operating cost but still workable. I know it could open up my load options but really think I should stick to a 32k gvw D unit.
Well that's it for now. If any of you have any creative financing options feel free to contact me here.
All the best.
Stay safe.
Peace N Chicken Grease.
