    A question of length?

Doesn't the ruling that a commercial vehicle must comply to the states laws that it travels/works in answer this question?

    Swing doors vs. Roll-up

Just extra maintenance. Plus in my dry box I've carried some racks and computer server towers that wouldn't fit if my door opening was even 1 inch lower. In the reefer trucks this is less of an issue.

    Swing doors vs. Roll-up

I have all barn doors, but I'm looking at building a reefer truck with a roll up door. I too would like more info on them. I have a few friends with them and I hear good things, but all reefer trucks. I'm not sure I would do it on a dry box truck.

    Expediters Services

I'd be open to other peoples opinion on this. I know when I was with them it was 50 miles dh free because that's how FDCC paid. Now to my knowledge there's no free miles. And i mainly deal with my w/g units, but I think our deadhead pay on the surface side isn't much, like $0.15/mile per driver...

Best way to get started with no CDL Exp?

Wow! This got negative. To Walsh16, your post being a first time poster was phrased in a way that I have seen other people phrase questions in the past to make a sarcastic point or as a joke. That was the purpose of asking if you were for real or not. It's not your fault that people before you...

Best way to get started with no CDL Exp?

    Is this for real question?

    Expediters Services

I'm curious what's bad about their pay system? Not attacking, I'm genuinely curious.

    2nd class citizen

Agreed. If you did that and were in my fleet I'd let u use me to make the reference and pass the money on to you. I did notice the clarification and found it an odd note but nothing these guys do surprise me anymore.

    california regs??

I have all ca approved trucks. My reefer trucks do good going out there but it's a wash on my drybox as the dpf cost me as much to maintain/repair through the year on it as I make on extra runs to CA. But the newer scr/dpf trucks do much better.

    Expediter imfo please

I used them to get my start into driving. They also helped me get started when I wanted to buy my first truck. I recommend them.

Small Fleet Owners? Follow this blog

    Really!?!?!?

    Buying my first truck

You think that's the case? I only know a few fleet owners and I can't think of one that only pays cash for their vehicles. I'm sure some do, but only 5% using banks or financing companies? I don't know about that.

    Buying my first truck

For buying a truck I would think it's fair to low but it's not terrible. The bankruptcy thing may prove to be quite problematic though.

    Buying my first truck

I second the expediter services for your situation. They may require you to drive one of there trucks for up to a year first but you'll be hard pressed to find a better group of people to work with.

Question for small Fleet Owners (leased to carriers)

Same here. We eat those costs.

    flatter the flat rate

Could just be it's December and freight is soft right now? We've noticed the w/g rates have been crazy low too. As far as all the tval trucks, a lot are new and I think fleet owners are just adding trucks faster than they can find drivers. I just had a team leave me for a 2015 truck so I put a...

Expediter in desparate need of help

Hey Clergyman, what's your name? Your quick to call out people but haven't publicly said who you are. I only ask because I would like to make sure I never bring you on to drive with us and I'm sure more fleet owners would like to know as well.

Expediter in desparate need of help

Any chance if you can't find an owner to work with that it may be you? You attacked panther, fedex and several owners so far. Just a thought.

Current van driver. Trying to make the best business. Decision

$1000 a week after all expenses consistently? I would disappear and not tell anyone about that. $52,000 a year in a van after expenses. That's pretty darn good.

    New

Thanks! My business partner was laughing when I showed him the pic because it just so happens each time we have driven that pass I've been asleep! I think I'll make it a point to be awake next time we go through it.
