Fuel for Thought
The Weekend Report
DOT physical. Earlier I claimed I was going in for my last appointment for the year. I forgot about my DOT physical coming due. Some how I lost a year somewhere and thought I had until next May. Safety office was getting a little jittery, because they knew I had gone to take my physical and I wasn’t reporting back lickety-split. “Waiting on lab results? They should come back immediately. Where are you getting the physical done?†Me—“At a regular doctor’s office?†This year I decided to get my DOT physical from a doctor who knows me. It took an extra day for the lab results to catch up with the doctor. So a visit with the doctor late Tuesday, lab visit Wednesday morning, and results delivered Thursday morning wasn’t like the typical Urgent Care or Occupational Medicine facility. Where I saved is by using a doctor who knows me, I didn’t have to set up a separate appointment with my regular doctor to reevaluate questions that come up dealing with my history, lab results or medications. I think I will continue doing it this way until the government outlaws the practice.
Freight. Can’t complain. Lots of freight chatter over last weekend, and I got my slice of it. Monday morning delivery put me in range of a regular doctor, so I went out of service for the physical. Friday turned into a two load day. First load was low average, and the second late night load pulled up all the averages for the week. I can’t stress it enough—don’t give up on your week, don’t give up on your month. Don’t get blinded by a bad week or month. And be in-service to catch the rebound.
