The Weekend Report

This week was solid. Four loads averaging over 500 miles a piece. Little sitting, and not too cramped for time.

Open interstate.   I’m trying to think of the last time I spent the whole day cruising the Interstate. I had a Charlotte, NC to Cleveland, OH run that kept me on open freeway for over 500 miles. No traffic lights, no deer gauntlets; just open road. Update: after jotting this down, I ran the same route in reverse.

Mild rant.   There I was. Rolling into the travel plaza sized gas station. One set of diesel pumps on the end of at least ten open gas lanes. I make a slow, wide circle to put the pump at the correct side of my van, and as I come in for final approach, a Jeep from the parking spaces darts across to cut me off and take the pump. Fine, there is another diesel pump on the other side. As I pull out to go around, another car rolls into the lot and pulls straight into my only other diesel option.   Gasoline consumers for the most part are oblivious to the diesel pumps. Please, gasoline customers, if there are open lanes without diesel pumps, use those lanes as a first choice.
