The Weekend Report
The last couple weeks moved along nicely. I took personal time last weekend, but leading into my time off and coming back out I’ve seen good freight. Some of the highlights:
Gotta Go. I had a nice chat with forum member gotta go when she saw me pull into a shopping center parking lot while I was deadheading to Boston for my appointment a week ago. We saw each other again Thursday for a fast wave as we passed in opposite directions on Interstate 96.
Campgrounds. Traveling the back roads of Wisconsin I ran across a place called Camp NCN—Sexual Freedom Campground. The things I miss when I stick to the interstate.
Consolidated service. After Boston I planned to freight my way to Grand Rapids, Michigan where I had sent my tire order. I thought I might get the job done by Thanksgiving. It only took three loads and by Thursday I was in the work bay having new tires installed. The last load delivered within two miles of the tire shop. I’ve been happy with my Michelin LTX M/S tires the last two times around. This time I opted for the M/S-2. The time was right, so I also changed my oil and filter in the parking lot after the tire job. Things were getting done so well I managed to squeeze in a shower before going back into service after a four hour vacation. And I didn’t even lose my board position. The four hours of lost dwell time was nothing as I was under load again Friday morning.
A good frost. Finally a good frost over a large part of the region to kill off the last of this season’s ragweed pollen.
update:
US 24. It’s nice to finally have the entire stretch of US 24 open between Fort Wayne, Indiana and Toledo, Ohio.
