Fuel for Thought
The November Report
I logged over 10,000 miles on the van in November. 2000
miles were personal miles, but even taking that into account, it was the most monthly
miles in over a year.
Fuel additive experiment. November was the second month I’ve run without fuel additives. At mid-month I started getting the engine light again. The light clears itself, so I suspect it is the same anomalous temperature reading I’ve had in the past. Not sure what to think of it yet. I was beginning to think the engine light was related to the quality of fuel. Maybe winter blend is similar to a quality of fuel issue. It does look like I’m struggling to stay above 21 mpg as the winter blend season sets in.
New scenery. I saw a lot of Tennessee and Kentucky this month. Freight didn’t necessarily start or end there, but I did drive through there a lot. It was a nice change to the Michigan orbit.
Thanksgiving week. That week worked out well freight wise. The week started strong and tapered off as dispatch worked at getting people to where they wanted to be for the holiday. Even though the in-service-for-the-holiday crowd missed out on much of the Wednesday freight that got other drivers home, we were first in line for the post-holiday gobble. In all the week was better than many whole weeks.
Lottery winner. Congratulations to Dale for winning the Drive for the Gold drawing. Sorry it wasn’t the other lottery.
