OOS—Chores
The van is getting to the point that I’m contemplating an engine swap. In the last month, oil consumption has gone from one extra quart between oil changes to a quart every 1000 miles. The van still runs great. The shop is reluctant to touch anything considering how well everything has run up to now. Still on the original Diesel Particulate Filter, so I’m doing something right to keep it running that clean. The oil cooler is leaking, so I’m going to replace it, eventhough it is a very slow leak. I’ll run a while to see if there is any impact on oil consumption; I doubt it.
While I wait on parts, I did some digging around to help friends. It’s time for them to pump their septic tank, so I dug up the tank to find the lids. My little helper found the lid on the shallower tank. My tank ended up having rogue repairs done to it, so I ended up clearing most of a eight by six foot slab with no lid that was laid over the tank. I left the rest of the digging for the tank pumper guy, and he found the new undocumented lid near one edge of the slab. The joys of homeownership.
