Home town festivities

Since I have been home for a while, I decided that I was going to make the trip up north to Remus, my home town, for our yearly town festival, Heritage Days. Growing up it was one of the most exciting times of the year. Before insurance liabilities grew there used to be all kinds of fun things to do. Rides, petting zoos, and crafts for kids. Now they still have games and crafts, but I have out grown those activities. There are truck and tractor pulls, weekend long softball tournaments with teams from all over the place, as well as parades and fireworks. I am really looking forward to seeing friends from elementary school that I haven't seen in over 15 years! I am also looking forward to the family that I haven't seen since our wedding reception. My great aunt and uncle will be honored by the town as "citizens of the year" for the services that they have provided to the community. I will be taking pictures and will be sharing them when I get back to Lansing.

On the downside, up here I get HORRIBLE cell phone service, but thankfully my dad has wifi so I can use the internet when I need to. It is always peaceful up here, and this is a well needed relaxing break.
