What's Going on in the US House of Representatives?

No

Now we're watching DC sausage-making as the House Republicans go through the nomination process for a new speaker. The pressure is on for them to have one in place by week's end, and most of Gaetz group will likely come to their senses or risk reelection in some of their districts.
How much "sausage-making" is needed and for how long? Reports this evening are that the House Republicans are no closer to electing a speaker than they were a week ago when the sausage makers gave McCarthy the boot. They're not making sausage. They're caught up in their self-made dysfunctions and making nothing at all ... except maybe the chaos the nihilists in the Republican caucus are successfully creating. Every day the House is unable to function is a win for them, and a loss for America.

Santos Specifics

It is telling how Santos unconscionably, and with no regard for his donor's rights, stole money from his donors by using the credit card info they trusted him with to charge additional amounts to those cards without the donor's knowledge or consent, and he deposited some of that money in his personal bank account. The man is a self-serving thief who deserves to be convicted and imprisoned. Yet the Republican House members hang onto him like he was a national treasure.

Per DOJ:

"A 23-count superseding indictment was filed today ... charging ... “George Santos,” the United States Representative for the Third District of New York, with

one count of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States,
two counts of wire fraud, two counts of making materially false statements to the Federal Election Commission (FEC),
two counts of falsifying records submitted to obstruct the FEC,
two counts of aggravated identity theft,
and one count of access device fraud,

in addition to the

seven counts of wire fraud,
three counts of money laundering,
one count of theft of public funds, and
two counts of making materially false statements to the United States House of Representatives that were charged in the original indictment."

It’s only been about a week, The Senate wasn’t even in session.

That's an article dating back to January that talks mostly about Republican officials in Nassau County, NY.
How many Republican US House members and US Senate members have called on Santos to resign?
And if he won't resign, he needs to be expelled.

A full week of House shutdown, not because it's a regularly scheduled recess, but because the dysfunctional House Republican caucus can't keep a speaker seated and can't agree on a new one.

Actions( and inactions) have consequences. Nothing wrong with holding political leaders accountable for being ineffective. Likely a new speaker soon if not today.

The extra touchy activity by Boebert and her boyfriend was done in the dark. The only way that anyone could see what they were doing was by a night vision camera. I don’t see how this incident, while tawdry, “fully discredits her” that she shouldn’t be re-elected.
Night vision camera.....that is like peaking in someone's window or over the back yard 6 ft fence.

A grand total of six. Six out of 200+ Republicans. Compare to how many Demcorats called for ousters of their own after they were indicted or engaged in inappropriate behavior? Democrats don't tolerate that crap. Republicans do.

Progress Toward a House Speaker. Is it Enough?

On a 113 to 99 vote, House Republicans nominated Steve Scalise to be Speaker. With that level of support, he now goes to the House floor where he will need at least 218 votes to get elected to the Speaker's seat. The "chaos caucus" has more than enough votes to deny him the seat. Will they do that, or will they restore order to the House by seating a speaker?

And yet no demand to resign from the Senate leader Schumer on Menendez.
This was 14 days ago too. Still crickets.

He’s the compromise pick between the two.
Likely to affirm.
