Where Trump Stands in the Polls

Good summary article here about current polling data.

It seems DeSantis and other Republican primary candidates have no chance of knocking Trump off his intra-party perch. Trump supporters are steadfast.

DeSantis was assured that he wouldn’t be running against Trump. Chock that up as another mistake his handlers made.

Well I think 100 million is a little bit of a stretch but a few million absolutely. Its just a shame that most of his worshippers refused the vaccine because they thought it was dangerous.

Im with him on the mandates, if you are that stupid not to get it, then you deserve to die alone in a hospital ICU.

Trump cut the red tape....Democrats wanted to take 4 years to get a vaccine out.

Yep, he did what he had to do, will give credit where it is due. Just a shame how many died that didnt have to.
Democrats dragged their feet on a lot of things simply because trump was in office.
The wall would have been long done and we would not have the influx for the past 2.5 years.

The wall is pretty much meaningless, The law says that when someone shows up at our border and claims asylum we have to let them in and give them a shot. Plus dont forget they can just show their passport, obtain a visa and say they are visiting friends, this is how a larger percentage get here than cross illegally.

The problem is there are 2 ways to do this .....
1 come to a port of entry
2 cross the border illegally
The problem is to many cross the border illegally and are not turned away.....maybe we need to go all north Korea and shoot a few. Because they seam to not respect our laws at all.

The law does not say that. Being poor or just wanting "a better life" in no reason for asylum. Regardless, the practice of the Biden administration is to let anybody in, no matter what their status is.

"To establish eligibility for asylum or refugee status under U.S. law (8 U.S.C. § 1158), you must prove that you meet the definition of a refugee (under 8 U.S.C. § 1101)."

Exactly, that is what the hearing is for, to decide if the claim of asylum is valid or not, unfortunately, the hearings take a long time to get and then most of them do not show up.

Which is why I have said before even if you were to give a path to citizenship to those who are here illegally most will not follow through with it.

Then why lo et them in.....why just release them instead of deportation?

Because that is not what the law says, unless there is a record of them being expelled previously or there is some kind of warrant for their arrest, they are allowed to stay and wait for their hearing.

If the laws were changed to make it so they were immediately expelled that would be fine but that has to come from Congress, an executive order will not do.

That's why the Remain In Mexico policy was in place - for them to apply and then wait to be qualified. Now the vast majority of them wouldn't qualify and don't have to because there is no real process. Fact is, the border is open so they come in, take a meaningless number and disappear into the interior of our country. A few years from now we will deeply regret having done nothing to stop our country from becoming the world's homeless shelter.

Right and the only reason that was allowed to happen was because of the Covid emergency declaration. As soon as the emergency was over, they had to revert back to the current laws.

Sorry but if you enter here illegally you should not get to stay.

I agree but the president's job is to enforce the laws as they are written, Congress needs to actually do their job and change the laws.

The problem is that there are too many greedy businesses that take advantage of the cheap illegal labor that its never going to happen.

The Democrats try to flip the border issues onto Congress, but that doesn't fly. Simply put, Biden is ignoring existing immigration laws and has hamstrung ICE and the Border Patrol.

It's going to be hard to get either party to crack down on these giant corporations/donors who enable this source of cheap slave labor. If a few of these CEOs were put in prison for exploiting this situation it might be a start.
