In any event, even if he were obtain a grant of a special master, if the ruling by that special master were to go against Liddle Trumpy Bear, the MAGAt's would still be screaming to High Heaven about the "Deep State" and whatever lunacies they could come up ... of which I'm entirely sure there would be no shortage of.

While I'm sure DOJ is focused on this immediate case, I think they also need to focus on the fact that Trump may possess additional stolen documents which may be secreted in other locations (aka his other properties)

One should note that Attorney Boob is conspicuous in her absence on Team Trump's most recent legal filing.

Apparently his most recent attorney acquisition - former Florida Solicitor General Chris Kise - didn't sign onto it either.

If it sounds that way to you, it's because you are making it up. I have no such expectation and you have no rational basis to believe I do. Every one of us hears the songs that play in our heads. Yours simply happens to be out of tune in this case.

It makes no difference to DOJ if Trump becomes an official candidate for president or not. That became instantly clear when the decision was made to take the unprecedented step of obtaining a warrant and searching his house.

The cases made for impeachment were strong too, but they did not succeed because the trials were conducted in the U.S. Senate, which at the time was a political body controlled by Republicans who were willing to put the interests of their party leader Trump ahead of the interests of the country. The DOJ is making its strong case in the courts where the law and facts still matter.

You often bring up Biden when I'm talking about the DOJ and Trump. In this conversation on this topic, Biden is of zero interest to me. As president, he is of little interest to me. I do not see him as a strong leader and I spend very little time thinking about him as I go through my day. In contrast, I spend too much time thinking about Trump. It troubles me deeply to see him lie all the time, dupe millions into believing in him, destroy the Republican Party, threaten democracy itself with his strongman-leader methods, and evade accountability again and again.

You seem to believe Biden is using a corrupt DOJ as a political weapon against Trump. I do not believe that. I believe it is as the White House says it is in this case. The DOJ is making the legal decisions and determining its actions regarding Trump, and Biden is staying out of it.

We will likely learn more about the particulars in good time. HUNDREDS of classified documents ended up in Mar-a-Lago, stored in ways no classified document is stored when in government custody (in vaults, signed in and out, etc.). For the sake of national security, we need to learn how exactly so many classified documents managed to find their way to Mar-a-Lago.

And no, the answer is not that the documents were declassified. Trump is saying that a lot in public but he has yet to make that case in court where he would be expected to actually prove that claim.

Again, they did nothing to control traffic in and around the rooms where the classified documents were found. They did nothing to make sure the documents remained in one place that would meet the government's rules of "secure." They did not do this because that is not their job.
