The Trump Card...

"any January 6 protester...could be kept in prison without bail until a criminal trial 12+ months away".

And that's exactly what they're doing in our nation's capitol, keeping these American citizens incarcerated under deplorable conditions with very little publicity from the mainstream media. Finally, a congressional group got inside the DC jail to inspect the situation and uncovered what one would expect to find in a banana republic prison. Compare this to the insignificant legal responses to the antifa / BLM riots of 2020 that resulted in billions of dollars in property damages to federal, state and local properties along with dozens of deaths and injuries.

Perhaps a double legal standard is being imposed?

"More than a dozen Republican lawmakers led by Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert are demanding that a D.C. Jail deputy warden be fired over what they call the mistreatment of Jan. 6 Capitol riot detainees.
In a letter sent to the city’s Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday, 14 GOP House members accused Deputy Warden Kathleen Landerkin of treating Jan. 6 detainees as “subhuman.”
“Jan. 6 defendants [have] reported being subjected to months of solitary confinement, verbal abuse (e.g., called ‘white supremacists’), harassment, beatings from guards, denial of basic medical care, religious services, communion, nutritious diet, and access to attorneys,” they wrote."

How come the deputy warden woman deleted her anti Trump supporter rants on twitter?

Nope, wrong ... the domestic terrorists/insurrectionists are being housed in a different wing than the one where there were serious problems (where the non-January 6th prisoners were being housed and were ultimately relocated to other facilities)

If memory serves, it's the Central Detention Facility versus the Central Treatment Facility of the DC jail. Two different buildings as the article you linked notes.

Believe the insurrectionists are in the CTF, not the CDF.

At any rate, whichever one the insurrectionists are in was inspected by the Bureau of Prisons and given a pass/clean bill of health.

Such drama !

But glad to see you are now onboard with reforming jail/prison conditions.

Hope you can keep it up and continue ... when the folks involved aren't ‘Caucasian’ ...

:tearsofjoy:

Yeah ... they kept the common criminals from DC (likely mostly POC's) locked up in the building with the crappy conditions (until it was discovered by the BOP and they had to move them elsewhere) ... and put the (mostly) Caucasian insurrectionists in the nicer facility.

Definitely a double legal standard.

Good catch.

:tearsofjoy:

Sounds like Marge and Louie are playing the race card.

I sure didn't see that coming ...

:tearsofjoy:
The 2 Republicans spoke with several of the jan 6th prisoners and 2 had NOT been given any medical attention....surprise....surprise the jail is run by Democrats.

What do you mean so what?

It's just another way of asking:

"What is your point ?" (in relation to my post which you were replying to)

Nothing that you posted conflicts with or refutes my original post.

BTW - just an FYI - I'm more inclined to give credence to a quote of the actual words of DOJ official said, than a (supposed) paraphrase of those words by a journalist (or someone pretending to act as one)

Clearly, you don't "got it".

:tearsofjoy:

Not a question of "the Left".

I asked YOU ... and YOU couldn't name a single individual.

Nor apparently could anyone in the relevant law enforcement agencies, DOJ, etc.

You're "sure" of all sorts of things ... including that Revolver publishes "blockbuster articles" ...

:tearsofjoy:

And while it may be true that there were some cameras present and some video was recorded, there may not be all that much that is usable, in terms of identifying individuals ... depending on what time that the attacks occurred.

Depends ... and is hard to answer without knowing exactly which specific/particular events you're referring to (date, and time that they occurred)

If you are referring to something that occurred at night, after dark, it may be for several reasons:

1. they simply don't have any in that instance (much of the stuff used to identify the domestic terrorist/insurrectionist wannabes on January 6th came from independent media largely recorded during daylight ... or the morons themselves who decided it would be really cool to livestream their own riot to the internet ... :tearsofjoy:), or

2. because any photos or footage they may have wouldn't be useful in identifying suspects (time of day, low light, bad camera angle, etc.)
I guess the officers were hit with imaginary bricks and bottles.
Poor lighting, bad camera angle, grainy video. Always excuses by the Left for why they don’t take action on rioters that have causes they agree with.

Blockbuster Revolver article just broke. Looks like a coordinated effort by a few that curiously haven’t been charged.
For one, a dude on a scaffold with a bullhorn in a restricted zone ordering people to keep moving up to the capitol. But not charged, along with Ray Epps who is all over the place ordering people to go in to the capitol. He was also involved with the initial breach at a strategic entrance that many protesters were funneled to.
As the article concludes there might be an excellent case for entrapment for many.

Just recapping this Revolver article : Ray Epps who was directing people to go into the capitol, the guy who tore down the restricted signs, and the person on the scaffold with a bullhorn telling people to move forward and fill up the capitol all haven’t been arrested or charged, but grandma taking a selfie has been. Due to this article being publish people are getting informed and realize they have been fed a false narrative previously.

I guess the officers were hit with imaginary bricks and bottles.

I certainly am not claiming that.

Poor lighting, bad camera angle, grainy video.

Those are explanations for why video (such as you imagine may exist) may not actually exist to much extent, at least in any useable form.

Not excuses.

Always excuses by the Left for why they don’t take action on rioters that have causes they agree with.

Wait ... who was President when that occurred ?

Are you saying Trump is part of the Left ... because cases weren't brought and rioters weren't prosecuted on his watch ?

That right there is some good spin.

:tearsofjoy:

Interestingly, MaroonPB - who Revolver was recently all worked up about - apparently has big connections to Ethan Nordean - a West Coast Proud Boy with an extremely violent history who is charged in the Oath Keepers January 6th conspiracy case.

For some reason, Revolver doesn't seem too interested in exploring those aspects.

Almost seems like they are trying to deflect attention away from people who have actually been charged ... hmmm ...

Due to this article being publish people are getting informed and realize they have been fed a false narrative previously.

Sure ...

Another violent domestic terrorist/insurrectionist has been sentenced.

Looks like roughly 40 to 60 months is what can be expected if one decides to revolt against the government and violently attack federal officers:

But that's for those who plead guilty and don't go to trial.

Elect to go to trial and you're rolling the dice.

In other good news of the day:

Reagan-appointed Judge Thomas F. Hogan denies (allegedly violent) Jan 6th defendant Ryan Nichols request to be released pretrial. Says possibly might get a trial date by sometime in the spring ... but COVID is complicating things. Hogan also slapped down Nichols' attorney for trying to get away with spreading false info about the FBI being behind the Jan 6th attack. That attorney previously appeared on Tucker Carlson's Faux News show and falsely identified an actual Tucker fan as being "law enforcement":

Tucker Carlson's Jan. 6 'Agent Provocateur' Is A Big Tucker Fan And An Amateur Cardinals Mascot

Federal Judge Alvin Hellerstein sentenced Trump supporter Robert Lemke for threats against the media, politicians, and their families. Don Lemon and Brian Stelter and from CNN spoke at the sentencing hearing about the fear caused by the rabid rightwing loon's threats.

Change of plea hearing for Matthew Greene scheduled for Wednesday, an accused Proud Boy from New York, which would be a breakthrough for DOJ in the Proud Boy cases.

Jan 6th Committee has requested to speak to Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) whose full role in events seeking to overturn the election is still unclear at this point. It is known that he was involved to some extent in attempting to get Jeffery Clark installed as Acting AG at DOJ so he could act as Trump's lackey to corruptly overturn the election in the final days of the Trump administration. Perhaps Rep. Perry will plead the 5th as well.

Jan 6th Committee also exploring whether is enough evidence for a criminal referral to DOJ for mail/wire fraud for those raised money off the "Big Lie". That could include Trump and other Republicans who were involved in such activities.

Last week a Trump supporter who made a death threat against Speaker Pelosi was sentenced to more than two years in prison after pleading guilty:

Dude was on a scaffold with a bullhorn but the “most extensive investigation ever” hasn’t got around to arresting and charging him for being in a restricted area and giving orders to go into the capitol. Riiight.

Also on Monday: District Judge Amit Mehta of the District of Columbia rejected a move by seven members of the far-right paramilitary group the Oath Keepers to dismiss criminal charges against them relating to their participation in the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
