No more prayer at High School football games

Nope always been this way...could never wrap my head around the idea that theres a man above controlling it all.. seems silly to me...now that's just my beliefs ..I'm not going to go to a football game and get on the PA and tell you about it..or get your kids into some classroom and give them a book... or get on Tv and tell all the people they need to send there " gifts" ( tax free) to me...nope..not my style...

Well, that's cool.
I have a friend working well into his 70's. He won't retire because when he does he has to give the ex-wife 1/2 of his pension.
The TV evangelists we pretty much agree on.

I have a close friend whose daughter is a missionary in a very remote part of China. Risked their lives taking Bibles in.. No roads in, The Chinese Government tolerates them because they have done so much positive for the people. And maybe because their teaching is isolated to the one remote area.

Why do we need GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED SCHOOLS? Is that REALLY the way to freedom for all or is it the way on the way to thought police?

Where did it come from? Don't tell be the "Big Bang", because you won't then tell me what WENT bang. Something can NEVER come from NOTHING. Until you can PROVE what blew up, and how it got there, you really can't prove much of anything.

I say, ELIMINATE public schools, take government OUT of education 100%, then you can teach your little Johnny ANYTHING YOU want, and I can teach MY little Johnny ANYTHING I want. We do not FORCE you to listen. There is not a test after each prayer.

Look at the NFL. After a game, those that want to pray get together and pray. Those that don't want to do not.

They don't try to force those who wish to pray to stop doing it .

NFL IS not publicly funded event..but why does your religion get " the stage" what about the others..why is your religion any better?? .they should get there minute...but that will take forever....and again doing so as you say @ a school event is against the law..

I'm not very muti-cultural, but I would suspect that in a public school,in a predominately Muslim area, or Jewish area, it'd be illegal to deny them the right to follow their religious customs.
They have rights to.

I would imagine its because there doing it themselves.. there not making the whole team recite a whole prayer...there not asking the whole crowd to get there prayer rugs out and kneel...what's the diffrence when you ask me to bow my head...I do sometimes out of respect...other times I stare into the sky...but I always have been uncomfortable... if I asked you do do something against your beliefs ...you wouldn't like it....
Get your prayer rug out..kneel down pray to a god you Dont believe in....well you would say NO..just the same for me and others like me..

A. Religion is way to explain the unexplainable
If no good answer...he works in mysterious ways..seems like a good way to fill in the cracks

B Control..there was no police force for thousand n thousands of years...control them with...do as we say...go to the happy place in the sky...and Dont...well you meet this little red guy with horns in a real hot hot place...

So, let me see if I got this straight. (Can't tell the players without a scorecard, so they say.)

Layoutshooter wants to abolish public schools because, in his view, they serve only to indoctrinate and only teach facts as a side to indoctrination.

Cheri thinks this is a bad idea because most parents aren't capable of teaching their children-- which brings up the issue that since most parents themselves are the product of public schools, why did the schools not teach the parents better when they were children so that they CAN teach their children today, and why should we trust this generation of kids to a system that has so obviously failed the parent's generation.

ASJ rounds things up by believing in nothing and wanting to teach our children nothing in the public schools.

Have I got that about right, or did I miss something?

The problem is everyone seems to believe in the separation of church and state. Well there is no such thing in our constitution. The constitution says that we can not have a state sponsored religion. In other words we can't do what the British did and say if your not a certain religion then you don't get the rights of citizenship. The constitution actually protects our right to practice what ever faith we believe in without discrimination. The problem is the judicial system has twisted it to mean absolutely no faith allowed. In reality you are protected to say what ever you want about your faith whether in a government position or in a school! If someone wants to pray then let them pray. If the chose not to pray then they don't have to. Either way no one has the right to deny either choice because of a government setting. Judges need to enforce the constitution, not force their beliefs of what they want it to say.

Actually the lack of a wall between church and state is a relatively modern invention. Fox strikes again!!!

I recommend some googling on this one as it's an interesting subject. Jefferson and Madison discussed the issue in letters to each other and if memory serves, Jefferson actually refers to a WALL between church and state. Also, if memory serves, Madison was less thrilled about it.

Don't watch broadcast news of any kind. I also don't Google it. Much was argued between them when writing the constitution. Dig back into those books in libraries from many many years ago and you can find some interesting stuff that was written before to much revision was done to the history of this country.
