Another Indicator: Swing-State Senate Races

"There are seven presidential swing states, five of which also have U.S. Senate races. That’s important because Senate races, like the presidential race, are statewide. While polling indicates that Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump are essentially tied or close to it in those states, the Democratic Senate candidates are leading in all five states, and in some cases by a lot.

The Things You Can Do When You Have More Money Than Trump

The Harris campaign and DNC announced today $25 million in spending to support down-ballot candidates. This is an unprecedented amount, provided early, and it sharply contrasts with Trump, who prefers to extract money from down ballot candidates instead of funding them.

A candidate for US Congress runs in a tiny district compared to the national presidential campaigns. They are very close to their volunteers and voters. Receiving a cash boost from a higher campaign is of course welcome. It will also motivate these down-ballot candidates to further support Harris while running their own campaign.

It also increases the probability that the Democrats will take the US House, Senate and White House in November.

“The vice president believes that this race is about mobilizing the entire country, in races at every level, to fight for our freedoms and our economic opportunity,” Harris campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement. “That’s why the vice president has made the decision to invest a historic sum into electing Democrats up and down the ballot.” (Source)

Harris Closing the Immigration Issue Gap

There was a time when Trump and the Republicans owned the immigration issue. Then Trump ordered the bipartisan immigration bill killed, and the Republicans went along. That gave Harris the very simple and highly impactful line that Trump killed the bipartisan bill she will sign.

As the campaign continues, Harris has time to deliver this message that is instantly understood by voters. We're seeing the impacts now. The gap is closing. Harris will likely take the lead on immigration after she makes this point in the upcoming debate, where millions who have intentionally dialed in to learn about the candidates will see this.

Already, the message is working. Trump killed this bill because he thought keeping the immigration issue unaddressed would benefit him. He was wrong and he's now suffering the consequences of this blunder. Regarding immigration, Trump put his interests before the interests of the country. The American people are learning of this. Advantage Harris.

In a recent poll, "On immigration, an issue that energizes Republican voters, Trump was favored by 3 points, 50%-47%, down from the 13-point preference he had over Biden." (Source)

Harris Continues to Crush Trump in Fundraising

"While official fundraising totals for August haven’t been filed yet with the FEC, the Harris campaign reported Friday that it and affiliated groups raised $361 million with $404 million in cash on hand—far surpassing the $130 million Trump and his groups reported raising last month, with $295 million in cash on hand." "The top 10 super PACs supporting Trump have collectively raised approximately $305.6 million since the beginning of the year, however, compared with $199.2 million raised by the top 10 PACs supporting Harris—though she may be able to narrow that gap in the weeks ahead." (Source)

The few hundred big donors supporting Trump have a few hundred votes. The millions of grassroots donors Harris enjoys who are financially outperforming the grassroots MAGA donors have millions of votes and they are demonstrating their firm commitment to Harris.

Harris has raised more small-donor money than any presidential campaign in US history.

It is also worth noting that all of the money Harris raises is available to spend on getting her elected. She is even sharing millions of this money to support Democrats in US House and US Senate races. Trump is supporting few if any down-ballot candidates. He will also likely redirect and/or hold back millions of campaign donations to pay his ongoing legal bills.

I was having this conversation with my oldest daughter the other day and she was saying that the way she feels about the issues would mean she is a conservative. I told her that is not uncommon, you are young, being conservative is human nature, it’s all about ME. Some of us grow out of that mentality and decide that there is a better way.

Not really surprising that they would get those young men to register to vote and then say they are voting for Trump. I just wish they could see he is not actually a conservative.

Taylor Swift is delivering thousands if not millions of supporters to Harris, and Harris paid no consultant or company to make that happen.

So there we have it. Trump's debate face plant had nothing to do with his incoherent ramblings, addled mind on full display, and rage outbursts in the face of a calm and totally in control Harris, Trump's face plant is due to an unverified suggestion (conspiracy theory) that Harris was wearing audio earrings.

You see, Trump is a great man. And he would have been great on debate night, except for the earrings someone else wore.

Swift Moves Over 300,000 Toward Voter Registration

It is often suggested, perhaps legitimately, that celebrity endorsements of presidential candidates have limited value or effect. Regarding Taylor Swift's endorsement of Harris, the hard evidence suggests otherwise.

Swift endorsed Harris the evening of the Trump/Harris debate. Additionally, Swift posted on her Instagram account, a link to a government-run website that provides information about how to register to vote. Swift encouraged her many fans to register and to vote early. Her message was effective:

"Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in a Tuesday night Instagram post drove at least 337,826 visitors to Vote.gov, a government website that directs users to state-specific voting information, a spokesperson for the U.S. General Services Administration told CNBC." (Source)

Meanwhile, Trump continues to spew his same tired crap on Truth social, prompting few if any voters to register and vote early.

The Swifties are now mobilized for Harris. With their online activism, they're going to bring in hundreds of thousands, if not millions of votes for Harris.
