Make no mistake. There are a lot of people in Florida who love DeSantis, but his status is diminished and the number of DeSantis lovers is declining, as the article you shared illustrates.

In case some readers miss your tiny MSN link, here's a bigger link to that story.

Employers lose migrant workers fleeing Florida's draconian law
Im not sure what im doing wrong, but when I would copy and paste the article the name would always show up correctly, but now it just shows MSN.

That article is a good example of what would happen if all the illegals here would up and leave. I dont like the fact that there are here, but like our choices for president, its the lesser of 2 evils.

I don’t see many leaving.
Instead, people are flocking there.
Its the weather, the last 2 winters I spent in Ohio about killed me, I wish I could get out of here but where could I go that I wont have to deal with the cold.

I see some people leaving. The article linked above illustrates why thousands of migrants are leaving for other states. Just this week, we lost a gym member to FL politics. This black, female medical doctor moved to a northern state to escape the negatives of being here in Florida. I've heard about college educators leaving to escape the oppressive policies. A brain drain may be beginning.

Business owners will just have to adjust to paying more to U.S. citizens to do those jobs. They’re driving down wages with cheap labor and blacks and hispanics are baring the brunt of that. Dems used to be against cheap labor.

What oppressive policies? What negatives did she escape?

That's a nice solution in theory. The problem is, it's not happening because workers cannot be found to replace the migrants at any price. You could say they would find people if they paid $50 an hour where they used to pay minimum wage or less (illegal employment). It has not gotten that far because customers would stop buying the goods and services at the high prices such wages would create.

Some farmers are turning to robots to replace the migrant workers who fled Florida. Some construction companies are using more prefabricated components to reduce the amount of labor. Some hotels are replacing front desk workers with kiosks. Many fast food companies are doing the same. Self check-out is becoming the norm in many retail stores.

When the price of labor exceeds a certain level, business people stop thinking about replacing humans with humans. They turn to automation instead. In jobs where automation is difficult, companies are struggling to maintain production levels as people simply cannot be found to work.

That's not good for the economy. It's bad. And it's not good for workers either as it hastens the pace at which they are being replaced by machines.

There may be some good news for employers in this. Self-driving trucks and cars will soon free millions of truck and taxi drivers to work where they can, which will be the fields if they can find nothing else.

I heard a story a while back that is instructional in this context. An American missionary was visiting a worksite in Africa where hundreds of laborers with shovels were busy building a road. The missionary asked a government official why they were using shovels instead of heavy construction equipment typically used for such a project. The official said replacing these worker with machines would be bad for employment and reduce jobs. The missionary then asked, "then why do you not give your workers spoons?"

There is far more to the employment equation than workers and wages. Floridians and people who purchase Florida products and services are learning this lesson the hard way as the DeSantis anti-migrant laws take hold.

Food shortages and reduced produce exports have not yet developed in Florida, but they may soon. See this.

In 2022, Florida produced hundreds of millions if not over a billion dollars worth of agricultural products. It will be very interesting to compare the 2023 number when it is available. When people in Des Moines can't get their customary Florida-grown strawberries and oranges, or when the price of oranges triples, and with DeSantis today telling everyone in America his policies will be to blame, he's going to take an even bigger political hit than he is now.

I did not speak to her in depth about this. She just said she was leaving FL because of the politics.

Regarding educators, see this:

One of the policies she didn’t like was the Restroom Policy that was implemented.

I have no way to confirm that, and neither do you.

Common MAGA tactic. If you don't know something, make it up.

From the article:
"University of North Florida Professor Dr. Hope Wilson said she knew at the beginning of this year she would be leaving Florida with her family."

It stands to reason that hard left liberals - especially college instructors - would want to move to an environment where their core beliefs are unchallenged and considered mainstream. College campuses have become notoriously intolerant of free speech and the open exchange of ideas.

U.S. citizens will do those jobs for a higher salary. Double it to around $26. Businesses will just have to raise the price of berries.
