keeping your butt cool in summer while driving?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ;) Seriously though, sounds good! I used to have a cafe and one time during a heat wave, a woman wearing a pink leather-like outfit came in for lunch, and when she left, she left half her outfit there on the oak chair.. stuck.. took some serious scrubbing with sos pads to get...

    What a goof up I did !

Well that just plain STINKS! Did it say 'where' in 'ON' it was to pickup?? Who are you signed on with, do you mind saying? Just curious what kinda carrier would ask you to do that kinda dh!

    My trucks have been busy.

Seems most on EO are OOs/Drivers who are leased on with a carrier, and seems most carriers don't allow you to help yourself anyway, by getting some of your own backhauls or whatever. We've been working toward beocming independent, and it has been a LOT of work and time, researching, etc. It's...

    Getting Hired on

You could try posting an ad on the Classifieds here, I have seen others do this. Not sure if it works, but worth a shot? From what I've read, you're probably not in the best location for this, but if you're willing to be out, maybe you'll be able to team with someone.

    Knowing your cost per mile

I believe you are missing the fact that the people talking about taking loads for that price are generally contracted on with a carrier, and not getting 100% of what is billed to the shipper, whereas you will be the carrier, so of course you will bill for a substantially higher rate.

    Knowing your cost per mile

How much were you thinking you'd be charging for your services as a carrier?

    Knowing your cost per mile

I can see what you're saying, but hopefully people wouldn't be using this to help them budget their payables! It's the same as not necessarily requiring the same $850 per month in maintenance and repairs each month, as shown on the cpm example. It's just to show an estimated cost per mile, and...

    Knowing your cost per mile

Thanks Phil. I must say, I prefer the way Terry & Rene spread the truck cost over the period of the truck's life, as opposed to having payments, and then suddenly zero, and looks like you're making more money. I'd rather see a steady number, making it easier to compare apples to apples, one...

    My trucks have been busy.

The more I read about Panther, the more I think you guys have it pretty good over there, and hard to understand why some people are full of complaints about them. Everything is relative, and it seems that relatively speaking, they have a lot to offer.

    Knowing your cost per mile

Yes, but if things change, month to month, week to week, it makes a difference, so how often would one consider appropriate to adjust the figures to their most recent reality?

    Knowing your cost per mile

Thanks. So in effect, a real cpm can't be determined accurately until after the fact. How often would you adjust your figures to meet with reality? Monthly? Weekly? Quarterly?

    Knowing your cost per mile

I have a stupid question. If those 'cost per mile' or 'cents per mile' sheets are used, an expectation of miles driven must be given. If you're new, you won't necessarily know what to expect as far as miles offered, deadhead, etc. Even if you're not new, things can change.. So how are...

    Knowing your cost per mile

Are you talking about the accessorial 'revenues'? The added on things? Or are you talking about a fee you get charged, an expense?

    Taxes

When husb and I were first getting into this, we were speaking to these snakes, who said to us, 'ohhhhh you won't be paying any income taxes, becuz you get to write everything off'. Ya, we can write all the biz expenses off, that's right, and if there's nothing left afterwards, you're right, we...
