    Flat rate???

Hmmm. Well here's to April and May. I wish all a very profitable 2 months. And may the odds be ever in your favor...

    Flat rate???

And if that's correct bummer for w/g. Surface trucks that can haul w/g loads, iac, dod, rad, exp, etc... Will suppress the rates to $1.30 + fsc which is about $1.61/mile as of this post. And there's nothing we can do about it, FDCC is setting the rate. So if a w/g truck bids against a surface...

    Flat rate???

So from what I understand the only time w/g rate of $1.30 + fsc will be used is if a surface truck hauls a w/g load which some of us do. Like a radmat load for example. Does this seem correct?

    Flat rate???

Wow. That will be interesting. W/g people need to check their income/investment/profits with this new plan. It might actually make more since to be a surface truck on flat rate than spend the extra money on a w/g equipped truck. Or look into other options...

    Flat rate???

Certainly that can't be so. That employee must be a little confused I hope. Who in there right mind would stay on % base with no negotiation considering the really low offers they send out all the time. The only reason to be a % based contractor is to be able to negotiate. There's hardly a load...

    Can't decide

I could be mistaken but weren't you offered the name of a company to talk to already? That company, I believe, has vehicles already. You just need to contact your insurance guy and get all your money back, same with mc number if possible and call these people to go to work for them. Also...

    Cargo vans

Hi, I'm an o/o in a straight truck but I like to drive a van at home as my personal vehicle. I had a 2000 dodge van 3500 15 passenger van with the 5.9l and really liked it but the roof leaked so I sold it. Now I'm looking to buy another one to replace my current f150. What do y'all recommend I...

    Flat rate???

W/g loads are $1.30 on flat rate. That's what I was referring to. If I go w/g I'll buy a t-val truck. I'm still truck shopping. Hard to make decisions when your carrier makes major changes mid contract.

    Flat rate???

I'm guilty of it as a surface truck too but sometimes it's by accident. If I really don't want a load I will often times bid stupid so they see my offer and move on. If I don't they call/message/resend the load to me 5 times so this pretty much works to way over price the load to keep them from...

    Flat rate???

Lol. It's all backwards! And when I put my liftgate on and go to w/g class I can steal your good paying w/g non-tval loads from you for $1.30 a mile!

    Drive Tires, What say you?

I use Continental. I get similar pricing on Michelin and Continental and my continentals tend to last longer. I'm not sure if Continental is considered a cheap brand or not. No experience with much cheaper tires. I had Kelly's at one point and I didn't care for them. I also have just a single...

    Flat rate???

I will say, a lot of the surface dispatchers I get along with. Some of them I could live without having to deal with but most are ok. But, when I handle a white glove load it always surprises me how nice, helpful and friendly they are.

    Can't decide

And welcome to the community. In a year you'll be giving similar advice to the next guy that post these questions.

    Can't decide

I agree. This game destroys people all the time. Find an owner to drive for and learn the business and save every penny you can. You may decide in a month that you want to drive a straight truck instead or that you want the security found in a carrier that specializes in van freight rather than...

    Flat rate???

If I'm gonna decline a load I might as well add a price in there. Eventually I might actually get it. @least the ball will be in their court for of they take it or not. Who knows...

    Flat rate???

I think your right. I keep seeing tval people say they are safe because fedex said they looked at it and decided not to make them flat rate, but they forget the last part where they say "for now ". They aren't ruling it out they just can't deal with that much change at 1 time.

    Flat rate???

One thing I'm curious about is are they going to start offering more layover offers now. If I knew that they were going to pay the .75 + fsc to get me outta bfe I'd be a little more likely to take a bfe load. Because now that it's flat rate it's all about how many miles can you get. It's not...

    Flat rate???

Agreed. And I don't think the dispatchers are happy about this either. I think they know this has the potential to make their job harder.
