    Cr-unit question

We have a 2 axle cr unit and I'm curious if adding a lift axle to it will make us anymore money with FDCC. We can scale around 5500lbs and with a lift it'll over double. We have an 18' box. I don't want to add the axle if FDCC will look at it only as a cr unit with a 5,000 lb max regardless. Any...

You've got to be kidding me

Not everyone. We haven't been slow yet. But we do dod, rad and explosives. Could be the difference.

You've got to be kidding me

Any qualifications for anything other than basic freight? Were a surface truck too but have every clearance, qualification and endorsement that we can except for tanker and will be getting that soon. We still haul a lot of lg as well; not the best paying, but not terrible and we keep the truck...

    Flat rate???

Ditto. I haven't been doing this that long but my skill set has shot way up. Especially converting from a driver to an owner operator.

    FedEx Truck, Bus Crash

Isn't a 7 hour shift a blessing? We just did 2 days of the full 11 hours back to back to get to vegas. That I could see being called a long shift. 7 hours. Please...

Deciding the best course of action. OPINIONS WANTED

Yeah. That's how it is with FDCC. We got in trouble once because we were dispatched on a load to pickup the next day and did off duty driving to the walmart and back to the truck stop. Even though we didn't have cargo it was not allowed because we were dispatched.

Deciding the best course of action. OPINIONS WANTED

I suppose my main concern was getting out of trucking school and getting some experience under my belt before i could work for a decent company. I assume that once i get through school i will have to "pay my dues". I think FECC is 6 moths experience before you are able to run for them, which...

Deciding the best course of action. OPINIONS WANTED

Agreed. We do anytime fitness and can fit in almost all of them in our straight truck. I've also seen a lot of tractor trailers at any times as well, there are only a few parking lots too small for those. A van is not necessary for those services. Also, most malls and walmarts allow them...

    Expediter Driver Shortage ?

I agree. My partner and I had many discussions about this. We don't want just nice trucks but also to have plenty of capital for these occasions and if we need to fix the truck. I can't believe the stories I hear of trucks going down and the owner half a** fixing it because they don't have the...

    Expediter Driver Shortage ?

It's a great question. We've pretty much decided to go the route of hiring some people new to expediting and teaching them. Then hopefully moving them to a nicer tval truck and starting over again. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the future. I can't find teams on eo looking though...

Any straight truck company drivers out there!

Any straight truck company drivers out there!

Do you mean like drive a fedex or panther truck for a fleet owner? Or a small expedite company that owns it's own trucks and dispatches it's own freight?

    Best truck choice and customization.

Need way more info. What are you doing with said truck? A van is most economical in all categories but if your hauling 12,000 lb pallets for these customers it's not very efficient for you at all. Also, a new class 8 truck won't be shot in 3 years with you still owing a boat load of money on it.

DPF and CARB, mine ST8's time has come.

I have a dpf only cat c13. It'd stick it out and go to a newer truck with a dpf and scr (def). It also depends on the engine. Cat had major issues, cummins had issues and Mercedes didn't have many issues at all with their dpf. I'm not sure about a pure dpf volvo.

    suv

What about a local hot shot company? They may be able to utilize your SUV. I don't know any expedite companies that will. If you want expedite then I'd recommend working for an owner. It involves little investment and gives you a chance to learn the business on their dime. Plus you can try out...

What makes a Bol a Bol

We have this problem frequently. But we also run for FDCC so when it happens we just make up a BOL and have someone at fedex freight, ground or express sign for it. Never had a problem so far. We also try to get a packing list with the load details off the package, if possible, and make a copy...
