    Flat rate???

Yeah probably. But that doesn't fix the problem they claim they have.

    Flat rate???

They said no negotiation after June 1. When we were flat rate the best they could offer us was to give us a <75 status. Which in the flat rate fleet does help but it wasn't any additional $$$...

    Flat rate???

I think I mis spoke, what I was thinking was the only way these short, surface loads will be covered is if the t-val people bid on them to do them. If all the surface trucks say no then who else will do the loads? I'm pretty sure fedex won't just decide to cancel these short loads so they'll ask...

    Flat rate???

I agree. I won't completely stop running short loads but the criteria is a lot narrower. I'll run a short load if it's a really early pick up and drop off or it's a really late pickup and drop off if offered after 4-6pm. Also I will accept if it gets me out of bfe to a better spot. But, for...

    Flat rate???

Am I crazy to think this won't work out to the point that they will go back to negotiable percentage rate? Today a number of runs were sent to the truck. Some were aight and some were super short. I am doing 2 short runs back to back because I was able to negotiate a good price for the runs. In...

    Carriers race to the bottom

Hey on 1,000 miles that adds up! That's $50 towards the $10,000 lift gate you bought. And the $2,000 in freight handling equipment you bought and maintain. All you need to do is run 240 loads to pay that off with and be careful you don't loose or break anything in the mean time. After that you...

    Dead head

We did it the other day . Baton Rouge to mobile dh for a mobile to mobile run. It was a 1.5 mile run but it paid like a 200 mile run. Of course I'm with fedex and in June when they offer it to me I'll just decline it.

    Flat rate???

With the way they are tightening the strings on t-val in order to have "better equipment" it almost seems as if they want to make 2 different companies. One of which is a specialized freight carrier and the other just an express form of fedex freight.

    Carriers race to the bottom

I think fedex will see this doesn't improve the problem of getting the little inexpensive loads covered. However, it will have the effect of showing them that while this didn't fix the problem they are still saving a ton of money. I fear they'll keep this change and add a little more to it...

    Flat rate???

I hope your wrong. But if the short loads and the no mans land loads can't be covered their would leave no option. I'm curious if they can do forced dispatch and still have independent contractors.

    Flat rate???

I'm trying to remain positive. I'm pretty sure my percentage will sky rocket. I'm not thrilled about this move and I'm in the midst of trying to build a new truck and this really clouds all decisions up to this point. This pay system only makes since for large fleets that can run on narrower...

    Flat rate???

I have to go and look back at what we've done ytd. I looked back at my last 2 runs and so far it looks like I'll be taking a 10ish% pay cut. I hope that number doesn't increase as I look back further.

    Volvo Frame Stretching/Staight Truck Thread

Yep. I like western star too but that's one thing I dislike is the big composite sleeper they use. Super strong but once it fractures a little bit it's done for.

    Volvo Frame Stretching/Staight Truck Thread

I agree about the sleeper being livable. We looked at one the other day and it is by no means an ari sleeper but the fridge is a lot bigger than a typical truck fridge and the storage was plentiful. I can even get a sink in it. It would also cost a good bit less than an ari. However, the sleeper...

    Flat rate???

Almost all tolls scares me. A JFK run can cost a ton in tolls. What if they decide not to pay that runs tolls and I can't ask for additional $ to help with that.

Were you able to get the wb? Under 12,000 on steers with refer and that guard on his nose?

    Flat rate???

This is exactly how we determined to take a load when we were flat rate with expediter services. It's also what we plan to do starting in June.

    Flat rate???

So if I buy a $200,000+ truck to wg standards and I get into wg the only loads I can bid on are t-val and dod? So everyone is flat rate unless your hauling a t-val or dod load? Hmmm. I thought it was everyone not in the wg program was flat rate and they were gonna leave wg units alone. How...
