    Paycheck issue

How 'bout the wife cashing the check at the bank on which it is drawn and then depositing the cash in your bank. A cash deposit should be available next biz day at the latest. You could then use an ATM to get your cash. Theres gotta be a way to get your road money without hassle.

    Non-CDL with air brakes ?

Just checked the MO CDL Manual and it sez personal use vehicles or using a comm'l vehicle for personal use such as moving ones own personal property are exempt from CDL requirement. No mention of air brakes in the exemptions.

    Average miles per hour?

we have averaged 57 mph on nearly all highway runs every time I check it. I use this figure to guestimate my ETA's. Considering we are slower on some runs, I would guess a 50 mph avg for the year. at 109,260 miles, we drove about 2185 hours during 2004

    TEAMS IN VANS?

Terry is back in the building...Just got home this AM and have finished my chores, so here I am. MikeG: Jeff Jensen had written about our van awhile back; here's the link: http://www.expeditersonline.com/artman/publish/article_001518.html Mike, don't confuse the A, B, C's of license...

    Cost Per Mile

I'm not sure how you can amortize a 60 month note for 8 years in regard to CPM? To keep it simple, a class 8 should keep earning money for an anticipated 10 years so if you plan to keep working it that long, that should be the basis for your CPM. (truck cost)+(interest)-(sale value at end of...

    A Cat in the Truck

Several years ago there was a woman in a van who traveled with several cats. We encountered her many times and she always had a strong odor of cat urine. We assumed the entire van was the litter box. On one occasion we met her in a rest area on I-40 east of Knoxville. She was on a run and...

    QUESTION FROM A POSSIBLE NEWBIE

HARDDRIVE: redytrk gave you a response you'd get from any of us but in addition, I'd also be wary of averages that are indicated as a wide range i.e. $40K to $70K you should try to get a specific answer such as $52,250 (my examples are not reality) 2004 was a great year for just about all of...

    Wrong Address

A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address! A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to...

Response to U live U learn

In addition to Crazynuff's good example of losing your house, is the following opinion to consider: If you, the O/O of the truck, are an officer in your Corporation and you are involved in an incident such as an accident where you are ruled personally negligent in the operation of the truck...

    Great EATS

We've looked at the pie billboard on I-70 for years and never gave a thought to going to the restaurant for one of grandma's pies because it's so close to home to eat, and so far to leave home to eat out. It's now on our list of "must do" places. Thanks.

    Working the system

Prof: Truely sorry to hear of your temporary (we hope) set back. As I pondered you fate, I wondered what was pschologically better for an old codger like you, a six month notice or a two week notice. I think I'd prefer the latter. Will you be looking elsewhere in acedemia or are you going to...

    ~ A Public Apology ~

The Moderators of the forums on EO are all involved in the Expedite segment of the trucking industry, no more nor less than any of it's members. Our sole interest with EO, as I view it, is to participate in these forums for the purpose of information exchange. We give a little and in return we...

    Cargo van's out of Indianapolis?

My first van was an '89 chev 1500 and I tore it up in a year and a half. This so-called 1/2 ton van can't handle the rigors of the typical expedite company's freight. You just can't safely carry the 2000+ pounds you'll need to carry to operate profitably with OTR expedite. Terry

    Class C CDL and Info

If you can't negotiate 60%, you pay fuel/tolls ONLY, then run away from this deal. I agree with some escrow in a legit, interest bearing acct., but you need an agreement in writing that explains the purpose of the escrow and the conditions under which some or all of it is held back and/or...

    Class C CDL and Info

JKN: Your reply prompts the questions: What type of arrangement would you have with the owner? Would you be leasing the truck with an option to buy? What percentage of the gross revenue to the truck would you get, or would you get a per-mile price? All miles or just the loaded miles. What...

    EO magnets ?

JohnO: good idea. Let's shame Lawrence into having a contest for a new bumper sticker. The winner could get tickets for 4 to the Expedite Expo and the runners-up could get a free subscription to Expedite Now. For starters, how 'bout: "If it's On-Time, it's Expedite" or "If you got it on...
