    question about the Sprinter...

A standard pallet will fit between the wheel wells of a 2500, not the 3500. I wouldn't recommend the 3500 as a van that would satisfy all carriers' requirements. The 2500 will.

Canada Panther & Getting paid in Canada

I'm with T'Hawk. If all your refused loads are solely for non-profitability reasons and your carrier finds your load acceptance rating to be unacceptable, then it would be a good time to rethink your lease with that carrier.

Canada Panther & Getting paid in Canada

The obvious answer is not when will you get paid but how much you will receive. Take away the when and you have your answer.

Tax Question for drivers of owner operators.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't suggesting that I know the rules, just that I have been led to believe by our tax adviser that the only per diem deduction available to us is the standard meal allowance for transportation workers. Therefore, I take no other per diem deduction.

Tax Question for drivers of owner operators.

hptptrucking: The use of hotel per diem by drivers of trucks with sleepers, and vans for that matter, has long been a topic of discussion in the EO forums and at truck stop counters. The concensus in this on-going dispute between the can-do's and can't-do's is that you may not legitimately...

    "B" unit profitability.....

I don't think this is a good time for an entry level van operator to enter this business as a leased expediter. If your wife will want to compete for the two or three small loads a week running in her area, then she would be fortunate to get only one of them. If that load develops at the kids'...

    Stresstests and the border

Same happened to me about three years ago. Medical thalium has a half life of 72 hours, but after 8 days from the test, I set off that machine in Detroit. Chalk it up to just another unique experience during life on the road.

    Electronic Logs

Greg: We can't fix stupid. There is no defense against a law enforcement officer who is ignorant of the law, whether it be paperless logs or any other situation where a driver is right but the LEO says he's wrong. We shouldn't have to duplicate our efforts with paper logs when they are not...

    Electronic Logs

Greg: ah.... maybe you missed the point. 1 - The states do not have to accept the rules and regs of the FMCSR or the DOT. For those who don't know, the states can reject some parts of the regulations and/or use them as guidelines. Many state select to use them directly while others don't. The...
