    Ok, Who is it?

That would be a "pimp daddy."

    Ok, Who is it?

I've had brokers call and do that. If it's not a name I recognize immediately, I've figured out that it's just their "line." Usually, their credit sucks. Now back to our regular program.

    Lawmakers Propose Higher Truck Weight

There is a bill in Florida where they are trying to raise the in-state weight used on non-interstate highways to 88,000. Already called Charlie Crist's office and asked him to veto it. It may help a few large shippers keep from calling a second truck, but what about the wear and tear on public...

Rates are going up....are you getting yours?

Slow and steady is definitely what I would say as well. Rates are up from what they were last year (they were just horrendous then), but certainly not where I would like them, especially for the vans.

I-44 crash west of St Louis

Saw it on Fox News. That is a nasty one.

    on board fax machine?

We always scan, if at all possible, rather than fax. It depends what your carrier accepts. I have an all-in-one printer/scanner in the truck, but takes a lot of space in a van. I tell drivers to at least attempt to fax from the receiver, since we have a toll-free fax number. It sure cuts...

Wow, I need a good Truck Stop Guide....

I would recommend going south. At least get between Detroit and Toledo to find a decent truck stop.

TA and Petro are combining points

TA or Petro won't give a "team shower" like most others do? You should be able to get a second shower for that 50 gallons. Many times you just have to let them know at the desk that there are two drivers.

    cargo van?

That was my first inclination, but I ignored it.:D:eek:

    cargo van?

I'm not sure how CSA2010 would affect such a decision within any carrier.

    Getting ones own Authority

Yes. The common carrier authority that you have filed for is showing that it is pending the insurance filing, but your process agents are in place. FMCSA will refer to it as your docket number. Good luck to you!

What is all the talk about fedex ?

I see that the screen name hasn't hardly dried either. The pantherhatch is now a fedhatch. ;)

    Getting ones own Authority

Common Carrier Authority Contract Carrier Authority You can't run a commercial truck across state lines without it. No offense, but if you really were as familiar as you need to be to be compliant, you would've been familiar with the term "authority" already. Your DOT number is fine if you...

    J.D. Clark Logistics ?

I've known of JD Clark for at least a couple of years now. Traded a few emails with John a few times. Seems like a real standup kind of guy. We quoted on a couple of loads for a sales agent with them some time back, but they never went through.

Large Carrier vs. Small Carrier: Thoughts?

So true. What is stable today, could be entirely unstable tomorrow. Who would've thought two years ago that Washington Mutual or Wells Fargo would be a name in history? How about Enron? The best advice I could give to our friend who got stuck in Texas (or any owner op for that matter) is not...
