    Got SunPass?

Well, Florida just consolidated their own passes just a couple of years back. We had had SunPass, E-Pass and the Orlando area had the O-Pass as well. I was concerned that SunPass won out (politics), as the E-Pass was a built on much better technology.

    Got SunPass?

I would love if Sunpass and E-Z-Pass got their code traded so one device could be used for both. Until then, Walgreens and Publix all carry the Sunpass in FL. The window sticker kind is 5 bucks.

Any under-CDL Straight Trucks Out There?

Thank you for your replies. I am hoping for even more input as to how well these units are staying busy. I don't have any in my fleet at this time, but would be open to it.

    C/V's Dead?

Hey Mooton, is that a crouton? I agree. You could be like pirates and stuff and wear eye patches and haul around stuffed parrots on your shoulder. You could all start mumbling the word "argh" to yourselves when having to wait too long at the Pilot because some semi driver wants to cash a comcheck.

    Oil price

Greg, Yes I understand it is traded with dollars, but here is what I am referring to: Oil producing countries use the price of gold vs. our dollar to determine the price of oil. The price of oil in relation to gold has always been stable--between 13-17 barrels per ounce--just like...

    Oil price

Unfortunately oil is tied to the price of gold. The price of gold has risen because of a weak dollar. The weakness of the dollar is tied to 6 "stimulus" sprees since 2001.

Any under-CDL Straight Trucks Out There?

After a couple recent conversations, I find myself interested to know just how many of you out there own and drive an expediter truck which is 26000 GVWR or less (especially the class 6 dock high ones). Is it a 16ft and under? 18-24? Is your carrier keeping you loaded?

    C/V's Dead?

Vans are slower than others right now due to the economic state. While some will use vans instead of a straight whenever possible for monetary savings, manufacturers are cutting supply chain costs by consolidating shipments whenever possible. The plant that used to ship 2 skids a day to a...

    Cargo vans and sprinters *ROUNDTABLE*

While John's WYSIWYG "shoot from the hip" style may seen crass, I have known of John's company for a good three years now and can attest that he has always been kind and helpful to others in the business. It sounds as if John is offering to help owner operators of small vehicles succeed and not...

    Load Or No Load

The now defunct Kitty Hawk Cargo had an agent in Tampa that used fork extenders that lowered the fork toes by about 28 inches. One a load like that, we would pull forward, let them lower the crate, and then with doors wide open, back in around the lowered crate and let them set it down. We would...

3 Layover Places That Are Safe...

I stayed at the twin Pilots in Memphis one time for about 18 hours. Boring as anything, but I never really felt unsafe there. Perhaps it was because of the misty rain and high of 55F that kept the riffraff away. My three: TA/Petro/Kenly 95 Truckstop - Kenly, NC Hate the coffee, but it's quiet...

If you are NOT an Indirect Air Carrier, but are a trucking company, you will need a customer that is an IAC to sponsor you. There is a test and a certification process.
