    straight truck without CDL

Very plausible that it is under CDL. Who is it leased to?

Solo's...how many miles do YOU get a week??

Small carriers have less rules in the house, as their have less "kids" to raise. We have slowed down a bit over the last six weeks or so. My solo straights were doing 2200-2500 miles easy, if they were out all 7 days. Now it's more like 1200-1500.

    From the dark side..............

I am only aware of a few large carriers that are dropping their rates in this economy. Smaller carriers tend to not have the diversity of income that a large conglomerate has, therefore look to hold their ground on the rates.

    straight truck without CDL

Yes, I would find out what you can scale in the truck. However, I would be more concerned about the GVWR rating right now. Forget what registered weight the cab card says and go look on the door jam. You can't fake that.

    straight truck without CDL

Well, the TV/DVD thing probably doesn't weigh that much:D, but if the truck has a sink with a water supply, it sure would sound fishy. Usually, the under cdl straights will either have a small "coffin" sleeper and 24' box, or a bigger sleeper, such as an 96", with only a 16 foot box. Kind of...

Thanks A Team, sure hope you were right!

So basically they are going from being one of the best paying carriers in the industry to one of the worst? Tsk tsk. I know that the last couple of times we called to help their brokerage, they wanted to haggle with me. They're getting worse than the Black Cat about that.

    Mapping good parking

It could be done as a GPX file. EO users layover POIs complied according to parking, eating, and entertainment.

    Rates for CV's

Perhaps a face to face conversation the next time you get near the office would be in order. I would not walk in there with this as your only bone to pick, especially if you are ultimately happy with the recent offers. I would address it as a sideline discussion and see where it takes you.

    Rates for CV's

So are you SURE that you are not getting the percentage of the rates you were contracted at, or is it that what you are being offered is less money per mile than what you had been getting or expecting?

    Another Question for JD Clark

Ok. So everyone knows that John is a member on this forum now. So instead of people asking him questions personally, he gets called out by forum members for supposed wrongs. If he answers, he is accused of stirring the pot. If he doesn't, then he is supposedly avoiding the question. What's...

    Rates for CV's

I can understand that feeling of not knowing whether you've been taken advantage of. I don't know who it is you run for, and even if I did, I probably would not know what was REALLY going on. I just don't think that way. I'm not out to take advantage of people who run with us. Yes, I am...

    ground flight

My wife and I were having a discussion about this. We both appreciate the value of a great name, especially one that defines what the company does. One she always liked besides this one was Nonstop Service, Inc. out of Raleigh, MC.

Top 3 Expediting Companies in the US?

It doesn't matter how much revenue your company makes, as much how much the owner operator actually sees of it. Those things are generally not congruous. And, as DaveKC always says, "If not how much you make, it's how much you keep."

    Rates for CV's

You are correct in your assumption. Although fuel has gone up, the overall spot rates for vans and now sprinters have fallen like a brick. Many times rates to a 3PL type customer are spot quotes, not published rates. The lane of travel has become very important in expedite as of late, much...

We've worked carrier to carrier with them in the past. Probably one of the more professional carriers we've worked with, communication-wise. Office staff are always polite as well. What are they offering you?

    and team driver #3

All E-1 will say to you is that they can't offer what they don't have. We've seen a drop since April, even in the straight truck realm. So has everyone I've spoken to. Now I am sure that some driver will pop on now and tell you how they've been running awesome for the last two weeks (yes, you...

loads and where did they go

It's always interesting how the purple kool-aid drinkers cite "marginal carriers" as being the problem, when the only ones I know that are playing rate games are the purple kool-aid sellers and a big feline. Besides, the only carrier I know of that is screwing their O/Os over by throwing...

loads and where did they go

I think he's probably referring more to the consolidation of shipments onto the next truck size up. Straight trucks are certainly NOT hauling CV and sprinter freight for those truck size rates. The guy who used to ship 2 skids a day on a van has re-evaluated his supply chain so that he can ship...
