straight truck without CDL

I have been ok to drive team for express 1 in a straight truck. But something seems fishy.. Its a straight truck with a dbl bunk sleeper, sink, tv/dvd. and a 24ft box. but its under CDL regulations.. with all of that stuff, it seems to be over 26001lbs. So what I m asking, is that possible?

Well, the TV/DVD thing probably doesn't weigh that much:D, but if the truck has a sink with a water supply, it sure would sound fishy. Usually, the under cdl straights will either have a small "coffin" sleeper and 24' box, or a bigger sleeper, such as an 96", with only a 16 foot box. Kind of hard to have both and be able to carry more than 3-4000 lbs in it.

Highly unlikely. Take it and scale it. That should have been done at the get go. How else would you know how much freight you could haul. Just remember that it is ultimately your drivers license that would suffer with a ticket for that.

I used to have a 26000 lb truck YOU NEED to go right NOW and have it scaled. We could only Haul around 9000 lbs at most ans we had the bunk built into the box. It was a 24 foot box that was converted. My guess is that you most likely can haul about 7000-7500 lbs with a team.

its a 24 foot box with a 60" sleeper and it can hold 10k lbs

Yes, I would find out what you can scale in the truck. However, I would be more concerned about the GVWR rating right now. Forget what registered weight the cab card says and go look on the door jam. You can't fake that.

We have a straight with a 16' box and 96" sleeper and a GVW of 26k that we've had a couple different drivers in. With the last team we had in the truck and full fuel, we had a 7000 lb payload. I scaled it the other day with just myself and came up with 7200.

It would seem that anything under CDL would have to have the smaller box to have a decent payload.

Express-1 Safety Department requires a scale ticket less than 1 month old and then they will check your sill plate GVW rating before they put the decals on and sign the truck lease. Was this already done and was it somehow falsified? At any rate, the DOT will catch up to you one day if it is wrong and explain how bad you've been. I wouldn't take any chances, know your truck's empty weight and GVW yourself, because you are responsible for it.

The truck already is ok with express 1. Was ran for them before. The owner was looking to fill it. Already had express 1 decals and all of that
