The 4.8 is a good engine. It only has 30 less hp than a 6.0 and about 200 less pds of torque. Geared right and tweeked it will run from now on.

A paper gas filter using ethynol gas has a white fatty looking substance in it. For fuel injected engines proper pressure is required for performance. A dirty filter reduces that pressure. It does not stick to metal so it doesn't hurt the pump. If you look at a small engine like a trimmer or...

Check inside the frame rail on the drivers side (follow the fuel line) and see if your chevy has an inline gas filter. Some do, some don't. Mine does. Change it. Most people don't bother with them but using ethynol you should change them at least every 6mo's. They are about $25 bucks...

    Waitin' for the snow!

It would be two chains yes and a spare. Wa wants an extra incase a link breaks. A lot of guys carry chain repair kits with them. If your in the Mountains daily a repair kit comes in handy. Wa, Or, Ca Dot boys don't play and they will fine w/o batting an eye. If you crash and block a pass and...

    Waitin' for the snow!

That's not tricky at all. Washington truckers use drop axles on all vehicles grossing 90# or more. Drive axle is a drive axle period, drop axle doesn't have anything to do with chains. Not all expediters are straight trucks there are TT so don't know what your deal is with the lift gate...

    Waitin' for the snow!

I just got back from a local Wally World with ordering new glasses. Thought I would save some money. $550 later, I did not save any money. Well they added a set in Wa. It used to be 1 extra, now it's two extra chains. But I might ad nothing required under 10K.

    Waitin' for the snow!

Washington as well as Oregon require 1 extra set to be used as a drag chain. Those that don't know what that is it's for chaining the outside rear tire on the trailer. If you run doubles or triples in Oregon they want a drag for both trailers. Why? It helps keep the trailer straight while...

    Waitin' for the snow!

Ms. Kate is right on. I pulled triples for years in the northwest where three railers are the call of the night. Matter of fact several times a night. Supposed to drop the third trailer in bad weather but sometimes you think you can get through but spin out half way up the hill. In those...

    Skirts

That's a very interesting article. One thing that I am interested in and was going to ask you is the wheel covers. I see by the article that they could save 1% in fuel. What I'm interested in is do they block the cooling effect on the brakes causing excess wear?? Do they offset each other??

    Belly box

The following website should help you. They are also located in Mi so that should help others as well. I can personnaly vouch for them, they have built several for me and custom spec's. Does not matter what size or whatever. They do great work and will ship to your door as well. Call them...

And yet another new van coming

Good info. My only fear to the new vans and the EPA ruling about fuel mileage vs. weight. The lighter they make vans, yes they carry more but strength is the issue. I don't believe they will stand up like our older models. Loading 2-3k on a small vehicle stresses the vehicle, I don't believe...

    coolant system help

This may be for another thread but wondering why more owners don't use Evans coolant?? All my trucks use synthetic hoses and Evans coolant. Doesn't boil or freeze. Uses no water just Evans, never have to service it. Expensive $25 a gallon but again never have to change it. To answer your...

High oil pressure - 3126 engine

To much in a Cat can lower the pressure. 28 sounds about normal for idling and low RPMS, should run about 40 psi normal operation. 5 is way to low, check your guage.
