    Cargo Van Owners opinion

A few years back I had the same problem. I dropped it off @ GMC in Columbia and told them new engine and transmission call me when it's done (the short of it). It costs me $5k. That was a new GM engine and reman transmission and a new battery. Got a 3 yr 50k mile warranty. No muss no fuss...

Westmicher's New XLT 10 Project Begins!

I don't know if I can explain this in print but I will try. When looking at the back of the box frame, I'm wondering if the top of the frame should have a stabilizer plate across the top from side to side. The reason for this when manufacturers build trailers or box trucks they strengthen the...

    About Half-Done, I Reckon

My last class 8 rig was sold at 1.1 million. It also was a Volvo w/a Cummins. The only problem I had was at 800K the left front hub went out. The shop said that's the expected lifespan. Again that was the shop talking. I replaced both with a tab of $3k. No problems with the engine at all...

    New idea for generator mounting

I have looked into this myself with specing of a new UltraMax. I have made inquiries to this manufacturer as to cost etc. Aluminum is expensive but there is no reason you can get some quotes from a local welding shop where you live and have this done. Aluminum Truck Bumpers - Aluminess...

    Truck limiter location

Well if you have what we call the second generation engine, any Truck dealer with a shop can do it. Plug it in, set what you want and good to go.

    GM CV owners

Well the nice thing is the 6.0 you can just jump the wire from the old to the new w/o installing them. Check each one by one starting with number one. That will save you from getting it scanned at GM for $200 bucks. Or you can buy a scan guage and check the codes. ScanGauge - Trip Computer +...

    13 speed transmission

Depending on what size Cat could be to much torque for the 13spd. The overdrive gear and bearing in the back of the transmission is a very small gear. They have always given people fits about vibration. Does it also vibrate in direct or just in overdrive??

Sounds like an Idler Arm. Is there play in the wheel? When you hit a pot hole or similiar does the steering wheel want to jump out of your hands?

    Maintenance

That's true about tax's and warranty but I like to know what's done. I have manuals for any vehicle I purchase. I can change out a 6.0/6spd chevy in 8 hrs if I have one to go back. The only thing I won't do is rear gears. I don't know how to time the new ones. I did my TT's until I started...

    Maxx Automotive Corporation

GM quit the SRW 159" chassis a few yrs ago..Right NOW, even the 139" SRW is coming in at 10,100 gvw in a cut-away and the dealers are going nuts.... They may have quit a few years ago but last year and this year their building them. I have a link on post #20 with GMs specs for all the GM...

Don't mean for this sound smart but last I checked I'm paying the fuel bill. I can get better than 15 mpg out of this rig or close to it. I don't care what a Sprinter or anyother van is getting. What I'm looking for is building a combination RV and C/Van. My retirement freight haulin Van.

    Maxx Automotive Corporation

It is available in SRW and 9900 gvw with a 57 gallon tank. Chevy salesman who I have purchased multiple vans from has spec'd it out for me on a 2013 chassis. You can also get it in a 2012 chassis. You have to order it from the factory with the Ambulance emergency vehicle combination. It's a...

    Maxx Automotive Corporation

I don't know what weight you are looking for but an Ultra Maxx can be brought in just under 7,000pds. But that doesn't mean you can't haul more. All I am interested in is the occasional 3 pallet load close to 3K. We are in contact with Turtle Top as well as those who are hauling freight with...

GM cuttaways are 139" and 159". Extended vans are 155". I used the word conversion because to me it is a conversion. Again, they have two 139" w/12' cargo and the 159" w/14' cargo.

I added to my previous post #20 to help clear some stuff up. Like I said their web site is not put together well at all. Hopefully their trucks are better than their web site.

    Maxx Automotive Corporation

I think I see the confusion. Just went to their site. What they are describing is a 159" chassis but the pictures are of a 139". That's another of their problem, they can't put a good web site together. Another problem is a lot of tire kickers in this business as well as others and only two...

    Maxx Automotive Corporation

They have 14' on the 159" because the body comes out behind the w/base. The back end is fiberglass. Hard to explain.

    Maxx Automotive Corporation

First off it is NOT a stretch. GM has two w/base chassis. 139-159. The regular size van sits on a 139 and a 3500 extended sits on a 159 wb chassis. I have seen one. The take a van and cut the top and rear off and ad a fiberglass top. The top unit has swing doors. It is not a Turtletop...
