Trailer Tail Update

August over July up 3%

August up of lifetime fuel mileage 1%

The numbers surprised me especially August compared to July.   We not only ran a little different in August with lot of back roads as well as buying one tank of bio diesel.   We usually do everything we can to avoid bio but this time we needed the fuel.   That one tank of fuel took us down from the mid elevens to mid twelve to a 10.92.

The lifetime of up 1% sounds right due to how we ran in August and I expect to see this number climb as we get more miles in with the Trailer Tail.

Updates:

The Trailer Tail or any aerodynamics does not work well at slow side road speeds.

The Trailer Tail is still very easy to open and close

As a 40' truck we have found that backing into truck stop spaces we have very seldom needed to close the tail.

We are still very happy with our fuel mileage and happy with how easy the tail is to work.

Bob did a You Tube for Overdrive showing how easy it is to maneuver.   I have a little more trouble since I am shorter then Bob, but I still do not have to work hard to open or close the Tail.

There are a few facts wrong with the article, as we are not driving a Cascadia Evolution that Freightliner supplied for us. We are driving our 2012 Cascadia that we purchased in 2011.
