Cleaning House

Spring is right around the corner and along with the season brings feelings of new beginnings. Spring is also a time when people might do deep cleaning both at home and in the truck. Finally, Spring cleaning might also include looking within to get out of the Winter doldrums and find new life inside ourselves.

How many of you find Spring to be a happy time, a time with more energy and a time to improve yourself and your surroundings? I know I find that I have more pep in my step when Winter is gone and Spring and Summer come around.

We spend time doing a deep clean of the truck and when we get home we do the same deep cleaning as well as purging of items collected over the Winter. This process can be both daunting and exhilarating all at the same time. We usually do the truck in one full step; however, at home we take our time to do rooms separately. Obviously, the truck has far less square footage than a home.

In all honesty, neither Dave or I enjoy cleaning. Yet, we are too cheap to hire someone to do the work for us. So, we put up with the chore and get it done as quickly as possible. This gets me to wondering… what do others do to get unpleasant cleaning chores done quickly? What types of cleaning products do you use? For those with shedding pets, how do you manage all the hair? We have spray and wipe cleaners. We carry a vacuum in the truck and of course have one at home too. We also have pet spray in case Rocky makes a mess in the truck or at home. But how many of you hire someone to clean the inside of your home and maybe even your truck? Is it more practical to hire someone who enjoys cleaning or is much better at cleaning than we are?

I realize that this blog is supposed to be something that helps those who read this. This is just to say that despite the fact that we have been trucking for many years, there is always room for all of us to learn from each other. In this article I am reaching out for help rather than giving help. We appreciate anyone who is willing to share their cleaning systems as well as the items used in the cleaning process.

Here’s to millions of safe, profitable and CLEAN miles.
