It's a Team's Life
Sparks Marina Park, NV
The lake is an easy walk from TA with about a mile walk from the Petro to a 2-mile walk around the lake. From the TA go out the exit gate from the truck parking and turn right, easy access to the sidewalks around the lake. From the Petro cross I-80 and go past the Scheels and there is a walkway to the lake.
The lake has a lot of very nice features including a dog water park that is fenced in. We enjoyed watching a Newfoundland chase and retrieve a ball thrown into the water while we sat on a nice park bench. There are plenty of dogs on leashes enjoying the park and there were many stands with plastic bags for easy cleanup after their dogs.
We saw inline skaters, bikes, runners, walkers, and people pushing baby buggies on our fall walk around the lake. In the summer it looks as if the two sand volleyball courts are very busy. There is an area for swimmers also.
They allow scuba divers as the deepest part of the Marina is 120' and the average depth is 60'. Boats without motors are those with electric motors are allowed on the lake. Fishing is allowed one hour before sunrise to two hours after sunset and we saw plenty of people fishing. The lake is stocked with black bass.
The Marina contains an estimated billion gallons of water and approximately two to three million gallons of water enters the Marina daily. The park spans 81.01 acres and features picnic tables, park benches, sandy beaches, restrooms and a fishing pier.
Any drivers laying over at the TA or Petro Truck Stops are
within easy walking distance of a nice walk around a very pretty lake.
