Ten years ago we entered the Expedite Industry with stars in our eyes of seeing the country together in our first truck.    After orientation and on our third load I was trying to figure out how to file bankruptcy to get rid of our new truck, go home to our own bed that did not move, and start looking for a job that got us home every night and was predictable.

Lucky for us we unloaded and had a couple days off to catch up on our sleep and to regroup.   Once we had enough sleep and our brains kicked back in we realized that there was a learning curve to expediting and sleeping in a moving vehicle.   When that next load offer came in we were ready to put the truck in gear and be off on another adventure.

We learned though that we had limitations and when we reached our limit it was time to go out of service, catch up on our sleep, have a sit down meal, and take hot showers before going back in service.   In time we found we could go with the flow and how to work the system to get the sleep we needed and to stay alert and ready for that next load.

Now we are back in the learning curve of a brand new system.   Luckily we know how to get our sleep and we know we enjoy being in the truck and expediting.   We are enjoying the challenge of learning a new system and having the freedom to pick and choose our loads.

This time around we have a great network of friends and also we know how to reach out for help when we do not understand something or when something is not working like we think it should.

For us our first choice of a carrier for ten years was a good one as it gave us a chance to grow as individuals and learn from the inside out about the small niche of expediters.   Our next ten years will be learning what it is like to almost have our own authority and how to quickly pick and choose loads that would be profitable to our business and us.

Bob and I have talked that our new adventure reminds us of when we first started expediting as we get the same thrill we used to when we snagged a load!

If you see us parked at a truck stop please stop by and say Hi!
