It's a Team's Life

If I can't have it, neither should you.

Crab bucket mentality is something that we fight everyday.  It affects us not only in our persona we present to the public, but also in our own hearts.

We do not want to be singled out for criticism so we often go along with the crowd.

A crab bucket does not need a lid, as the crabs will not escape.  If one crab tries to get out of the bucket the others will pull him back.  We see this happening when we watch others do something different and get criticized.  We find this with ourselves when we experiment with a change in our lives or lifestyles.

When we decided to leave our 9 to 5 "secure" jobs the crabs came out in force.  The crabs were not mean or vicious they were concerned and trying to protect us from harm. I know many of the crabs thought we had lost our minds…  They have since decided we are okay and we made the right choice for us.

Confidence in what we are doing or trying helps a lot when the “crabs” try to tear us down or get us to conform.  We are often trying different things to improve our lives and some work and some ideas do not. Some things we try seem to create unnecessary criticism and at other times the criticism seems to be warranted.

Life is not stagnant and change happens daily we can fight change or we can figure out ways to make change benefit us.  There is always a silver lining that is sometimes hard to find.  Sometimes the silver lining can be a way to make the change benefit us and in other circumstances it might mean making a change ourselves.

We are always aware of the crab bucket mentality not only in the criticism we hear but when watching what others try.  We do not want to be the crabs in the buckets pulling others back nor do we want to be pulled back.
