At the time the Espar Heater was won we had a Rig Master on our truck, but were in the process of researching our next truck.   Ray Lawrence held our heater until we were ready to have it installed.

We had the heater installed in our Bolt Custom Sleeper, which is also a standard feature in this sleeper.   Don Bentz installed the Epsar heater in our custom sleeper and added a digital controller.    The controller is easy to use and set the temperature for the sleeper and one of the nice features is I can set the temperature very low usually down in the low fifties during the night.   When the heater drops below the set temperature the heater starts and runs very quietly and does not wake us.   The Rig Master would only let me set the low temperature to 65 and when the generator started it would wake us for a brief moment each time due to the noise.

Our Espar heater runs off of diesel and uses less than a ½ gallon of fuel during an eight-hour period.   The heater uses the trucks batteries with very little draw as it only runs when needed. The heater is also CARB compliant and can be used in California with no repercussions.

The Espar heater is used in Europe for many years. The parent company, which is located in Germany and has been in business for 130 years.   The unit is very small and fits easily under our bench seat and gets plenty of airflow.    We often close the drapes on our windshield and leave the sleeper curtains open and the heater has no trouble warming the inside of the truck.

Between the insulation in the sleeper as well as the insulation in the cab of the Cascadia our truck holds the temperature very well.
