Education CMC Live
During the CMC Live event in 2013 we had a jam packed six days.... I know the dates are only for five days BUT the event in the parking lots starts on Sunday. When we pulled into the truck parking area we knew the event had changed a lot from our previous attendance a few years earlier.
On Sunday the parking lot is full of people performing alignment checks, oil analysis, and several other checks. If there is a problem a shop nearby has been set up to install items that are purchased and also to fix any problems that are found. The shop provided rides back and forth from the shop to the CMC.
On Monday the classroom part of the CMC started with a welcoming speech by Kevin and then the work began. Kevin starts very basic teaching how to figure costs including fuel mileage. He discusses how to buy trucks, how to maintain trucks, and how to get the most out of the trucks we own. The days start early and they end late with many opportunities to meet the other participants and also to join in the many discussions.
One of my favorite speakers was George as he is entertaining and he had us taking a hard look at ourselves to see how we could change to better our businesses. He had all of us laughing and also enjoying each other’s stories. He is an excellent speaker with a lot of information to share.
Over the years I have read many of Larry Winget's books and it was a privilege last year to hear him speak in person. Larry is an in your face speaker and he can see the stupidity in anything and any excuse is a bad excuse. He was great and he had everyone laughing. I cannot wait to hear him speak again.
Is this an expensive week YES is it worth it YES.... The CMC Live is set up for the new Owner Operator, the driver looking at becoming an Owner Operator, and also for the experienced Owner Operator. The networking opportunities are endless and it is easy to talk to someone who has went from near bankruptcy at their first CMC Live to owning a small fleet and debt free.
We have made a lot of friends at the CMC's we have attended
over the years and once again we look forward to meeting to people at this CMC
Live in May.
