We headed up to Davenport, IA for our first load of the year early as we were watching the weather around our house and we were going to get a lot of snow.   The weather also mentioned that Davenport was going to get some extremely cold temperatures that where going to break records.

The snow started before we made our destination but we continued on till we found a parking spot at the Flying J with our tail to the wind.   The Trailer Tail was also closed so no one could back into it.   Bob got out once as we thought we had been hit but found out it was only the wind.

We stayed warm and comfy in our truck and I was able to prepare several meals for the upcoming week and this also worked to keep the truck warm.   Once the sun set so did the temperatures.   We had our insulated curtains up in the sleeper; we had our vinyl shades in the windshield and the curtains pulled.   We also had the curtains closed between the cab and the sleeper.

The truck was shut off with only the generator running as well as our Espar heater and it was working hard.   By morning the temperature in the sleeper was a cold 50 degrees and the heater was still working away.   I looked at my phone and it was -19 outside with the wind blowing a chill -45 degrees.   I was very impressed with our heater being able to keep up as well as it did.

When we got out of the truck to head inside I thought I was going to get frostbite on my cheeks.   On Sunday evening we turned the engine block on and Monday morning we pulled the blinds down to ice inside and outside of the truck.   Now came the true test of our Maxwell Starting Capacitor and I am impressed to say our truck started as if it was in Florida!  Both of us just smiled and went about getting ready to roll on down the road to pickup the first load of the year safely and deliver it!
