Sunday was pre-registration and the beginning of the many inspections that were available to O/O in the parking lot.   Attendees were able to sign up for alignment checks by Chad with MD Alignment, oil samples, coolant samples, level one inspections and more.   We were also busy inside as more then 100 attendees came inside to pickup their registration badge, books, and meal tickets.

Bright and early Monday was the beginning of a fast paced week.   Breakfast was between 6:30 and 8:00 with the seminar starting at 8:00.   Kevin Rutherford opened the CMC Live and discussed what all would happen during the week.   In the afternoon George Gallamore spoke about negotiating and personalities.   George had us all stepping out of our comfort zone and learning more about ourselves.   Once we identified our personalities he started teaching us how to deal with the rest of the world.   George kept us all laughing and all the while learning not only about negotiating but dealing with people in our daily lives.

During the week Kevin kept everyone looking at all different aspects of trucking.   He talked about how to buy trucks, how to use spreadsheets, what receipts where necessary to keep and for how long.   Kevin is able to keep the driver who is considering becoming an owner-operator to the small fleet owner engaged and learning all week long.

Wednesday started with Larry Winget, The Pitbull of Personal Development who spoke about his philosophy on life.   Larry in an in your face speaker and he does not put a soft tough on anything he says.   I have enjoyed several of his books including, People are Idiots and I can prove it, It's called work for a reason and I am looking forward to listening to his new book "Grow a Pair".   Larry had everyone listening and laughing over his experiences, he also brought a few signs that he has collected over the years that had all of us in stitches.

Most nights there was something going on after the inside activities where finished.   Bose had their display trainer at the CMC and attendees where able to get a demonstration of the Bose seat system, which is phenomenal.   Mike Beckett with M.D. Alignment was also in the parking using the trucks in attendance to show irregular tire wear and discussed what is causing the problem.   This was a great hands on experience for everyone as they could see real world problems with tires.

Friday morning was boot camp.   Vendors used trucks that were in attendance to discuss their products.   OPS-1: Bypass Filtration and Fluid Cleaning systems was installed on a truck while attendees watched and asked questions, Michael from Maxwell demonstrated the starting module on one of the trucks that won the system in one of the many raffles.   These are only two of the many hands on experiences that happened in the parking lot.

Before we knew it Kevin was wrapping up the week and it was time to head back out into the real world and put our knowledge to work.   I was asked "Why attend the CMC we get all we need to know by listening to Kevin's radio show, Business and Beyond" and after a little thinking it came to me the show is like the table of contents.   The titles of each chapter are given and even some detail is given on the air BUT the body of the book is like the CMC Live that is where the main information is shared and learned.

This was Bob and I's third CMC with our first being in 2007 as attendee's, our second in 2008 as part of a group, and now our third in 2013 as part of the staff.   Education is the key to running a successful business and this is one of the many workshops we have attended to stay tuned into staying profitable.
