The Trump Card...

Buffalo, MN shooting suspect now in custody ... apparently disturbed with "anti-government sentiments" ...

Seems like there is a lot of that going around lately.

Why do these folks hate 'Murrica so much ?

Whether he holds public office currently is largely irrelevant to whether the Senate can bar him from holding public office in the future.

"... The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. ..."

In case it got missed by some folks:

Trump was impeached ... (wait for it) ... while he was still in office.

Impeachment is already a done deal.

Trial of that Impeachment in the Senate looming on the horizon ...

Hey did they show the speech where he said peaceful and patriotically? Did they edit it out or did they leave it in?

Can't say for certain ... I only watched one video, don't know if it was the only video that was presented.

It's still in the preliminary stages at this point, I understand that the Senate is currently taking up the question of constitutionality.

We'll probably see more video once the trial really gets underway.

I understand some of it will be "... new, never seen before footage ..."

Get the popcorn ready !

And the trial of impeachment in the Senate is of who again? Is he still President?

Where exactly does one find that ?

Seckret decoder ring required ?
The Constitution of the United States: A Transcription

The only secret to decoding it is the ability to read and comprehend English.
The purpose of impeachment is actually twofold:
It really isn't. Article II Section 4 plainly states the purpose of impeachment. It's not even open to interpretation. The two Sections in Article I that deal with impeachment describe the roles the House and Senate play in an impeachment, not the purpose.

The Founding Fathers discuss the Impeachment Clause of Article II in the Federalist Papers and make it very clear the Clause was included in the Constitution in order to create another check against abuses by government officials by giving Congress the ability to remove from power an unfit officer who might otherwise be doing damage to the public good. There is no other purpose discussed by those who wrote the Clause.

As for what moots what, the Constitution does not convey to the Senate the power to, upon failing to convict and remove from office, go ahead and levy the enumerated penalty for conviction as if they had convicted.

The Senate has plainly set precedent of having the authority to conduct an impeachment trial of someone who no longer holds office. What they have not set a precedent for, however, and they won't this time, either, is a conviction and removal from office someone who no longer holds office.

Well I just saw some of the video. It looks like they edited out the " peacefully and patriotically " comment. Why would they do that?

The Founders also knew there were legal avenues to take if need be of a President who may have committed a crime and then left office.

To leave something for Cheeto's defense team to do ?

Of course, that assumes that the defense team could actually figure that they ought to do it ... something, which after witnessing today's defense, I'm not sure would be a safe bet ...
