On Fri. left KC after I dropped and moved up to the fishing hole northeast of here. Got called for a load recovery from Waterloo to somewhere near Sioux City. Told them I needed to go east toward Toledo. Nothing else went down, so off I went to see Wayne the Sprinter tech in Toledo. Stayed in service while van was being serviced and no calls. On my way home got a call from dispatch asking if I could be tied up for a few days and of course I said yes. Got a load that picked up off the dock and delivered Mon. morning in Alliston On. Now waiting to pick up and head to the DC area for tomorrow. So that makes 11 loads in 15 days. Let's continue to ride this out of control train. May everybody have a most prosperous week.

Nice gravy train you are on....making up for that week in Laredo and DH to Mi...very well....keep it going! ride it till the wheels fall off....

So about to start week 3 of driving that means I'll be on the road cruising around trying to learn how to shift at speed. But now I gotta start looking at the billions of trucking companies out there and to be honest I'm lost because they all seem the same. I mean what to do
It'd be great to find out from each what they pay cpm to the new solo company driver and for how long before that pay increases. I wished I'd have asked that. Once you have a full year up to two years under your belt for experience you can sign on with a different trucking company if you don't like where you're at originally. After two years you may decide you want a more Regional Job and be home every weekend or even drive a day cab and be home nightly...who knows till then. Just know that reaching the 2 year mark will free you up to move to any company.

I got a prehire letter from a regional company called KC Transport that starts at 40cpm but no APU frig TV or inverter but home every weekend. Watkin Shepard was interested but it's 32cpm no APU frig TV or inverter but auto transmissions and no riding with a trainer otr. Trans am 30cpm all those things plus directv HBO and nfl Sunday ticket at no charge. Maverick is doing their back ground check on me atm and they have regional flat bed

[another night with the Espar on...who ever invented those things should get the Nobel Prize....:p

I went through Espar hell yesterday. After many hours running cables through the walls and ceiling, wires through the floor for the fuel pump, holes for the Espar mount, tapping into the fuel system, mounting and plumbing the fuel pump, installing intake and exhaust tubing, I finally finished. Last thing I did was install the 20 amp main fuse. Figured I was done, time to fire it up. Guess what, no power to the thermostat. Started retracing my wiring install. Took apart wires, yup, everything is done as per the instructions. Couldn't figure it out! Power from the batteries, power at the heater, no power at the thermostat. After again going over the wiring, pulled a small inline 5 amp fuse going to the thermostat. When held up to the light, it looked good. Reinstalled it, same problem. Took my test light and checked the fuse ends. Power on one side, but not the other. Fuse is brand new, never used. It was bad! Put in a new 5 amp inline fuse and the thermostat comes to life. Set it up to 93 degrees, it drew fuel and fired up. Let it run for a while to burn off the new unit smells and it ran flawlessly. Went out this morning, thermostat still powered up, Espar fired right up. So I don't believe I fried the fuse, I think it was a bad new fuse. Happy now, bring on a cold night now so I can adjust my ductwork.

In service Sunday, OOS Monday. Sudden toothache resulted in having one pulled this AM. Choice of 2000 for root canal, 400 to extract. Being an expediter made that choice easy. Bless you Tiny Tim AND the inventor of Vicodin

Like KC...you can add your Inverter, frig, TV, etc. yourself like I did. 40cpm to start sounds real good to me and home weekends! You could ask em about their policy on idling overnight for heat and Air. Also would ask at what increments time/month, year out that 40cpm increases. Watch the Contract....if they say you can't leave them for 1 year or two. Love to see everything in writing. Don't be sucked in with added STUFF and 30 or 32 cpm. That higher cpm in the long run is what's gonna matter (just my opinion). What are you leaning towards, your thoughts?
